BREE/GALBALLY

DEVELOPMENT GROUP AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Bree Community Development Group Ltd will be held in Bree Community Centre on Monday 8th Oct. at 8pm.

Bree Community Development Group Ltd. is a voluntary umbrella organisation for all community groups within the parish of Bree. Its purpose is to give support to parish organisations by assisting them in planning, funding and implementing their individual policies and objectives with particular emphasis on the development of new or improved facilities. It also works in cooperation with the local community and relevant agencies to develop community based responses to parish needs.

In the past year it has been involved in the setting up of Neighbourhood Watch, the Men's Shed Group and Bree Heritage Project. It also works closely with Bree Tidy Towns and Brí Beag childcare facility. In a joint enterprise with Ballyhogue GAA Club and Bree Community Centre Committee, major ground works were completed on the community centre grounds. It is hoped that a representative from every parish organisation will attend the AGM.

GAA TITLES

Well done to the Junior football team who won the All County Division 6 Football league title at Killurin last Saturday by beating Rathgarogue Cushinstown 0-14 to 0-6. Well done also to the U16 Hurlers who won the U16 Division 5 league title by beating Clonard in Oylegate last Saturday evening.

GAA LOTTO

The winning numbers in the recent draw were 8, 15, 27 and 32. There was four Match 3s; Mary Shortt, Ellen Cloke, Ned Roche and Connor O'Brien. The next draw will take place in Bree on 3rd October. Thank you for your continued support.

BREE MACRA

Bree Macra hosted the County Finals of the Know your Ag Quiz and Impromptu Public Speaking Competition recently in Ryan's of Galbally. The local club had two teams competing in the Quiz, with Cushinstown emerging as the eventual winners. In the impromptu speaking competition Sinead Doyle was announced the overall winner and will represent the county in the All Ireland semi-final in the coming weeks.

BREE YOUTH CLUB

The Junior Youth Club is now running on 28th September and there will be a special surprise event happening that evening: The New Age Dancing school are coming to the Youth Club and will be working with the Juniors that evening to help shape up everybody's dancing moves.

Junior Club will run from 7pm with New Age Dancing working with the members from 7.30pm. Members are asked to bring €2 admission for this night only. Parents, please note the later pick up time of 8.30pm. Seniors are asked to be at the community centre for 8pm for the bus to the Senior Disco. The bus will be back at the community centre at 12.30am.

LADIES FOOTBALL

The U16's had a good win over St Annes in Taghmon recently with a score of 5-9 to 2-7. The Juniors are getting ready for the Co League Final which will be played on Saturday 29th Sept against St Martins.

BREE CHOIR

The parish choir will resume practice on Thursday evening 4th October at 7.30pm. As ever, more voices would be very welcome! Preparations for Christmas will begin. Help is required to prepare for a musically festive celebration. This would simply involve a commitment to 12 practices on Thursday nights.

SLANEY SEARCH AND RESCUE

Majella and Jackie would like to let people know the total sum of money raised was ¤5,531.50 in aid of Slaney Search and Rescue. Once again we would like to thank all that helped us and supported us in our fundraiser the money raised is going to a great cause we would all so like to thank Ferns Bingo for raising ¤261 in a raffle held at the bingo in conjunction with our fundraiser.
