A local sports club showcased its caring nature recently when it held a fundraising event and donated a portion of the proceeds to Wexford Women's Refuge.

The event was organised by St Martin's GAA club and was held in Spice Indian Restaurant. Speaking to this newspaper about the event, Emma Lett, from the restaurant said it was a great success and she praised the club for offering the gesture to such a worthy organisation.

On the night, in addition to the clothes that were showcased on the catwalk, the club held a raffle and the proceeds from that were donated to the refuge.

The cheque was presented to the organisation at a recent ceremony in the venue and representatives of the organisation expressed gratitude and delight in accepting the money.

The fashion show itself was a sell-out and the organisers were delighted with how well supported it was.
