Wexford Racecourse will see an explosion of vivid colours when students at the Loreto stage a charity Colour Run at the venue in Bettyville on Sunday, May 6.

The event, in which the participants can also walk, was launched in the school last week.

It's being organised to raise money for two separate charities: Ronald McDonald House and Wexford MRI.

The run is being sponsored by SK Fitness and will begin at 11 a.m. with registration taking place from 9.30 a.m.

A spokesperson for the school said the event will be family orientated and will be suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

There won't be any obligation on people to complete the entire 5km route with the spokesperson commenting: 'People can just do what they are comfortable with.'

Participants will be asked to wear white t-shirts and bring sunglasses so they can enjoy the full experience of the event.

Tickets are now on sale in a number of venues in Wexford including: Doyle's garage, 1798 street, Killeens Service Station, SK Fitness and the Loreto Secondary School.

Adult tickets are priced €10 while child and student tickets (for those under 18-years-of-age) are €5.

Tickets will also be sold at the event on the day.

The event will follow on from a recent fundraising fancy dress walk that was organised for 1st Years by the TY students in the school which raised €3,000.
