Community spirit was very much to the fore in Crossabeg as a team of volunteers braved the horrendous weather to take part in some Spring cleaning in the area.

Organised by the Community Centre Development Committee, the group went out in difficult conditions to do a complete sweep of the parish, picking up all the litter they could find. Equipped with bags and gloves, the teams were dispatched to all of the roads across the area, where unfortunately, as in any rural area, dumping continues to be an issue.

Within just two hours, all bags supplied by Wexford County Council were full and the group were due a well deserved rest and a hot drink. A sterling example of community spirit, the gang had the place looking spick and span in no time.

'There was tremendous community spirit on show here today,' said Committee Chairman Tom Bermingham. 'While the main focus of our efforts in 2019 is building our new community centre at Garrywilliam, activities such as today's litter pick, galvanize the community and show what can be achieved together.'

The next major fundraiser for the Crossabeg Community Centre will be a fashion show at Hotel Curracloe on Friday, March 29, at 8 p.m. A great night of entertainment is promised with a number of local boutiques displaying on the night. Tickets will be priced at €10 with children going free.
