LADIES FOOTBALL: Crossabeg/ Ballymurn Ladies Football club held their annual general meeting on Sunday, November 22. There was a very good attendance and the following officers were elected for the coming year:
Peadar O'Connor (Chairperson), Donnacha McDonald (Vice-Chairperson) Ann Doyle (Secretary), Oonagh Reck (Assistant Secretary), Sean Redmond/Geraldine Cullen (joint Treasurers), Marguerite Scallan/ Orla Joyce (PRO's), Geraldine Cullen (Registrar), Kathleen Downes/ Orla Joyce, Mai O'Connor (Child Protection Officers), Pat Gately (Integration Officer); Getta McDonald, Geraldine Cullen, John Power (Delegates to county board); Emma McDonald, Amanda Scallan, Rita Cummins, Lorraine O'Connor, Chrissie McDonald (committee members).
Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last weeks lotto jackpot and five match three winners; Anne Foley, Alice Devine, Nora MacAogan, Aisling Grannell and Mairead Cummins. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 9, and 21. This week's jackpot is €12,200.
The club's development fundraising tickets are now on sale and you could win €2,000 for as little as 1 cent, so please give your support.
SANTA AT THE FORGE
Following on from the very successful childrens party which was held during Halloween, a Christmas party for children will take place at the Forge on Sunday next, December 19 from 2-5 p.m. Admission is €5 and of course Santa will pay a visit and he will be laden down with presents for the children.
The annual Christmas party for the senior citizens of the parish, which had to be postponed recently, has now been rescheduled for Monday next , December 20 at Ferrycarrig hotel. Apologies to anyone who was given the wrong date. Hopefully the weather will have cleared up and the roads will be safe to drive on.
Guests will sit down to a lovely meal at 6 p.m. and later in the evening will be entertained with music, song and dancing. Family members and friends are most welcome to come along and join in the festivities from around 8 p.m. onwards.
Crossabeg/ Ballymurn community centre committee are organising a Treasure Hunt for bank holiday Monday, December 27. Starting out from the community field between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m, teams of 2, 3 or 4 persons must complete the course in two hours. It is a great opportunity to get out for some exercise after all the Christmas excesses, while at the same time having some fun.
Starting at the community field, its then down to Foleys, across the junction towards Crory, turn left at Crory cross, continue towards Garrycleary, turn left at the junction, pass the school and church and finish up again at Foleys. Maximum time of 2 hours. Bonus for early finishers in the event of a draw.
The Over The Water Vintage club will hold their Christmas party in the Anvil, Ballymurn, on Friday night next, December 17. Non-club members are also welcome to attend.
St. Killians Athletic club would like to thank each and everyone who braved the elements on Saturday last to attend the coffee morning and sale of Christmas goodies at Kyle Forge. There was a very good attendance and the Forge was nice and cosy for people to sit down, have a cuppa and a good chat.
The club are indebted to Annis Kehoe who spent the past few weeks or so, preparing cakes, bread, puddings, jams etc for the occasion. Grateful thanks to all who helped out during the event, those who donated so generously and those who purchased items on the day.
There are still puddings and Christmas cakes available, so if you would like to purchase some, feel free to contact Annis on 087-2426146.
Crossabeg youth club committee members wish all their members and parents a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year and look forward to seeing everyone again in January.
