ROWING CLUB NEWS
Ferrycarrig Rowing club will resume training once again for the upcoming season and start back on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m for the underage and after 8 p.m for the seniors.
This year a registration night will be held on May 4 and letters regarding same will be handed out down on the shore on the evening of April 27.
Ferrrycarrig Rowing club would like to invite those who have an interest in the sport to go down and give it a go as they are always looking for new members. Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last weeks lotto jackpot, while there was one match three winner; Jason Cullen, Ballykelly.
The winning numbers were 3, 11, 16, and 17. This week's jackpot is ?3000. The Junior hurlers lost to Taghmon in the league recently while the Junior B hurlers beat Ballyhogue also in the League.
The Junior hurlers play Duffry Rovers in the championship this weekend. The minor footballers lost to Glynn and the minor hurlers play away to Buffers Alley on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m.
The U16 hurling game against Oulart has been re-scheduled for April 29. The U16 footballers play at home against Ballinastraw Gaels on Sunday next, April 24 at 11.30 a.m.
The U14 hurlers took part in Division 1 Feile losing two and drawing one game. Training for beginners and U8's will take place every Friday at 7 p.m alternating between Crossabeg and Ballymurn (Friday, April 22 in Crossabeg and Friday, April 29 in Ballymurn).
The Rackard League hurlers beat Blackwater last week and their next game will be after the Easter break. Memberships for all underage members are due and should be returned with membership forms. County Development draw tickets are now on sale and you are asked to please support your local club.
COMMUNITY GAMES UPDATE
The area finals of the Gymnastics will be held in Barntown community centre on Wednesday, May 11 at 4 p.m. for those under 6/7/8 year olds.
Competition for those under 10/12/1416 years of age will commence at 5 p.m. For further details and to make sure your child is entered in same, please contact Michelle on 91-59170 after 5 p.m.
A date for the Area Athletics will be announced shortly. The under 10 footballers came through their first round match against Glynn/Barntown and now meet Ballycanew in the second round of the competition.
The under 12 and under 14 Skittles teams will both play teams from Taghmon in the semi-finals and these matches have been fixed for May 4 in Taghmon. The matches are set for 3.30 p.m and 5 p.m.
A Table quiz will take place in Foleys of Crossabeg on Friday, April 29 at 9 p.m.
The event is being organised by the Senior Citizens committee and your support would be appreciated.
Entry fee is €20 for a table of 4 persons. A raffle will also take place during the evening.
A collection on behalf of the Irish Wheelchair Association (Wexford branch) will be taken up at Crossabeg church on Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24. Your generous support would be appreciated.
The following are the arrangements for the Easter ceremonies in the parish. Mass of the Lord's Supper takes place on Thursday, April 21 at 7.30pm.
The Good Friday ceremony will begin at 4pm and the Vigil ceremony on Holy Saturday night (April 23) will begin at 8pm Mass on Easter Sunday will be at the usual time of 11.15 a.m.
The organising committee of Daffodil Day and the various other collections taken up in Wexford town for the Irish Cancer Society wish to thank most sincerely all who helped raise €32,965 for this worthy cause.
This figure is way up on last year and in a time of recession the generosity of those who susbcribed is both humbling and uplifting.
Thanks to all who gave of their time to stand and sell, collect monies, organise the various stands, donate flowers and who helped out in any way.
55+ CLUB CROSSABEG
55+ club will hold a Coffee morning and a bric-a-brac and produce sale in Kyle Forge on Saturday, May 28th.
A raffle will also take place during the events.
All proceeds from same will help with the cost of sending youths from the parish to the World Youth week to be held in Madrid, Spain.

St,. Killians AC athlete Jane Shovlin came first in the Long Jump (4.50cm) and fourth in the Sprint at the Loreto secondary schools athletics which took place on April 7 in Santry and she was out once more competing in the South Leinster school athletics in Kilkenny last week where she finished in joint 5th place (4.58) in the Long Jump.
Yvette Shovlin finished in 3rd place in the Senior Ladies Road Race held in Kilmore on Sunday afternoon last, coming home in a time of 22.04.
Club mate Laura Halpin came home in 9th place in a time of 25.18. In the mens senior race James Cloney finished 5th in a time of 34.42, Niall Sheil finished 8th in a time of 35.50 and Jason Kehoe finished in 10th place in a time of 37.02.
Well done to all. Outdoor training is in full swing at Crossabeg every Monday and Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. New members are always welcome.
