The next session of Story telling at Kyle Forge takes place on Sunday next, May 1 with proceedings getting underway at 8 p.m. All are most welcome. No cover charge and refreshments also served.


Ferrycarrig Rowing club will resume training once again for the upcoming season and start back this Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m for the underage and after 8 p.m for the seniors.

This year a registration night will be held on May 4 and letters regarding same will be handed out down on the shore on the evening of April 27.

A Table quiz will take place in Foleys of Crossabeg on Friday, April 29 at 9 p.m. The event is being organised by the Senior Citizens committee and your support would be appreciated. Entry fee is €20 for a table of 4 persons. A raffle will also take place during the evening.

55+ CLUB

Crossabeg 55+ club will hold a Coffee morning and a bric-a-brac and produce sale in Kyle Forge on Saturday, May 21. Please note change of date.

A raffle will also take place during the events. All proceeds from same will help with the cost of sending youths from the parish to the World Youth week to be held in Madrid, Spain. Your support would be appreciated.

The area finals of the Gymnastics will be held in Barntown community centre on Wednesday, May 11 at 4 p.m. for those under 6/7/8 year olds. Competition for those under 10/12/14/16 years of age will commence at 5 p.m. For further details and to make sure your child is entered in same, please contact Michelle on 9159170 after 5 p.m. A date for the Area Athletics will be announced shortly.

The Area continue to be involved in the outdoor team events. The under 10 footballers will meet a team from Ballycanew this week in round 2 while the Kilmore girls conceded to the girls under 12 footballers as they had only 10 players and this puts the girls into the semi-final. The under 12 boys Soccer side went down 81 to a strong Enniscorthy side last week. Team members were Liam Evans, David Harte, Kyle Ferguson-Murphy, Aaron Doyle, Nathan O`Rourke, Mark Doyle, Dion Donovan, Cathal Devereux, Oran Maddock and Liam Banville.

The under 12 girls soccer side took on a team from Taghmon and came through on a 4-0 scoreline. The team were comfortably 3-0 up at half time and sealed the game with a fourth goal in the second half to win out. Goal scorers were Siobhan Doolan (2) Sinead Ronan-John (1) and Laura Campbell (1). The full panel of players consisted of Fiona Kinsella, Sadbh McCarthy, Chloe Mythen, Finola Monahan, Sarah Kenny-Harding, Mickaela Lanigan, Ailish Neville, Cationa Kinsella, Kirsty Fanning, Sinead Ronan-John, Siobhan Doolan and Laura Campbell. This puts the team into the semi-final.

The under 11 hurlers bowed out of the competition last week going down by just one point to a team from Craanford. This was a very sporting game and with just a couple of minutes to go to full time, Castlebridge/Crossabeg were awarded two long frees which just went wide of the crossbar. The final score was 3-4 to Craanford 2-6 to Castlebridge/Crossabeg.

The under 12 and under 14 Skittles teams will both play teams from Taghmon in the semi-finals and these matches have been fixed for May 4 in Taghmon. The matches are set for 3.30 p.m and 5 p.m.


A reminder to all St. Killians AC members that Day 1 of the County AA1 championships will get underway this coming Sunday, May 1 at the DMP grounds. The programme of events can be downloaded on The events will begin at 11 a.m. Outdoor training continues every Monday and Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the community field in Crossabeg.
