CROSSABEG

SCHOOL EXTENSION OPENING

The official opening and blessing of the extension to St Patrick's national school takes place on Sunday next, September 30.

Proceedings begin with the 11.15 a.m Mass where Bishop Denis Brennan will be the main celebrant. All parishioners, parents and children are then invited to the school for the official opening and blessing. Light refreshments will be served in the school hall for the adults. Fun activities and refreshments will be available for the children on the staff car park if fine or otherwise in classrooms.

As far as possible, a one way system will be in operation from 10 a.m until 2 p.m for all traffic using the Garrycleary/Sion/Church road. All traffic is requested to enter by the 'Fox and Goose' and exit by Crossabeg village. Additional car parking spaces will be available in the Childcare centre and in the school basketball area.

COFFEE MORNING

A fund raising coffee morning in aid of the Crossabeg Senior Citizens Christmas party will be held in Kyle Forge on Saturday, October 13 from 10.30 a.m until 1.30 p.m. Donations of cakes, jams, tarts, bread, etc would be appreciated. Please give your support.

GAA NOTES

Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last week's lotto Jackpot and two match three winners, Mary Quinn and Eileen Coughlan. The numbers drawn were 1, 4, 24, and 27. This week's jackpot is €7,600.

Best of luck to the Junior hurlers who play The Rapperees in the county final on Saturday, September 29 at 4.30 p.m in Wexford Park. Please go along and give them your support.

The underage section of the club are running a 24 hour go-kart marathon in Crossabeg pitch this weekend, September 28/29. Half of the proceeds will go to Our Ladys Childrens hospital in Crumlin, with the balance divided between the underage section of the club and the lady footballers. Please support anyone looking for sponsorship. For more details contact Murt Flynn.

COLLECTION

A total of €197 was taken up recently in Foleys of Crossabeg for CAN Wexford. Grateful thanks to each and everyone who supported this worthy cause.

ATHLETICS

Training for St. Killians AC juvenile members continues every Monday and Thursday evening at the community field in Crossabeg from 7-8 p.m. New members always welcome. Middle distance training takes place every Tuesday evening in the field from 5.30 p.m and is suitable from those aged 13 and upwards. This age group also train on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Indoor training for primary school children will commence in the community centre, Crossabeg on Saturday, November from 4-5 p.m.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

St. Killian's Athletic club will hold their annual general meeting on Monday, October 15 at 8 p.m. at the community field. Parents are urged to attend.

Many thanks to all who supported Crossabeg Whist during the summer. The committee look forward to seeing all their old friends again next May. Whist resumes in Glynn hall this Wednesday, September 26 at 8 p.m.

GO-CART MARATHON

A reminder that a 24-hour Go-cart marathon takes place this coming weekend at the community field in Crossabeg. The event is being organised by the Crossabeg/Ballymurn Ladies football club and it gets underway on Friday evening, continuing throughout the night and into Saturday, finishing up later in the day. Sponsorship cards are available from committee members, so do please give them your support.

VINTAGE ROAD RUN

The Over the Water Vintage club are holding their October Vintage Road Run on Sunday, Octobder 14 starting from Ballymurn Village at 1 p.m. Proceeds are in aid of Ballymurn church restoration fund.

Why not join in the fun and enjoyment of the occasion and support a worthy cause at the same time.

YOUTH CLUB

Crossabeg Youth club welcomes back all their existing members and aspiring new members are most welcome too. Registration night will be held on Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m in Kyle Forge. Anyone attending secondary school is eligible to join. Aspiring members must be accompanied by a parent on the night. Registration fee is €10.

The new committee elected at the recent annual general meeting are Maire Lambert (Chairperson), Pauline Finnerty (Secretary), Trish Barrett (PRO) and Triona Eviston (Treasurer).
