CROSSABEG

GAA

Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last week's lotto Jackpot and two match three winners, Joan O'Leary and Martin Cummins. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 24, and 25. This week's jackpot is ?8,400. Hard luck to the Rackard League footballers who were narrowly beaten in the district final last week. Best of luck to the U10 footballers who play in the final of the Sarsfield tournament this coming Sunday.

SENIOR CITIZENS

The organising committee for the annual senior citizens Christmas party met on Wednesday night of last week to discuss and plan for the occasion. The party will take place in the Ferrycarrig hotel on Sunday, December 9 at 5 p.m. Please note change of time. Following the meal, family members and parishioners are invited down to the hotel to join in with the dancing and singing. Greg Hawkins has been elected as Chairperson to succeed Lar O'Leary who gave years of sterling dedication to the committee. Joe Berney is the ViceChairperson, the secretary is Mary Quinn and Anne Cowman and Alice Devine are the joint Treasurers with Noreen McDermott, Dor O'Connor, Siobhan Kehoe and Nell Laffan forming the committee. Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the parish during the month of November. Please give as generously as you can.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

St. Killians Athletic club will hold their annual general meeting on Monday, November 5 at 8.30 p.m. at Kyle Forge. Please note change of date. Parents are urged to attend and also to take over some of the responsibilities of looking after the young children during training. Training for the juvenile members continues every Monday and Thursday evening at the community field in Crossabeg from 7-8 p.m. New members always welcome. Middle distance training takes place every Tuesday evening in the field from 5.30 p.m and is suitable from those aged 13 and upwards. This age group also train on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Indoor training for primary school children will commence in the community centre, Crossabeg on Saturday, November 4 from 4-5 p.m. St. Kiliians athletes who wish to receive training in the High Jump and Hurldes in Adamstown should note that the new starting date for same is Wednesday, November 14 at 7.30 p.m.

COLLECTION

A total of €170 was taken up at Crossabeg church last weekend for the Pro-Life Trust. Grateful thanks to all who contributed and took up the collections.

CANDLE OF HOPE

On Friday, November 2 ten thousand Hope candles will be lit at 7 p.m. across county Wexford and beyond. In recognition of this an Ecumenical seervice will take place in St. Aidans Cathedral in Enniscorthy at 7 p.m. All who have been touched by cancer are invited to join in this special ceremony of Light and Hope. If you cannot attend, you can still join in and tune into to South East Radio for the live presentation. Candles cost just €3 and are available from the Hope Centre, the Charity shop and other outlets around the county and at the Cathedral on the night of the service. website www.hopesupportcentre.ie and Facebook

HALLOWEEN PARTY

A Halloween fun party will take place at Crossabeg/Ballymurn community grounds. Let the committee organise Halloween for your family this year. Do go along to the community field for a whole range of activities for kids, including a disco, party games and a fancy dress parade. They will also have a bonfire and a barbeque. The fun takes place from 7-9 p.m on Halloween night. As this is a fundraising event for the community centre field there will be a small charge at the gate, but all activities are free after that. More details will be sent home with all primary school pupils.

KYLE FORGE

The next session of story telling takes place at Kyle Forge on Sunday, November 4 at 8 p.m. Refreshments served and all are welcome. Anyone wishing to book the Forge for meetings, get-togethers etc, should contact John Meagher on 0868904715.

CONDOLENCES

We extend our condolences to Darragh O'Reilly and family, Crory, Crossabeg, on the death of his Mother, Mrs. Phylis O'Reilly, Talght, Co.Dublin, whose funeral took place to St. Josephs cemetery, Bohernabreena, Co. Dublin, on Monday last. R.I.P.

CHOIR PRACTICE

Choir practice continues every Tuesday evening at Crossabeg church at 8.30 p.m. All members requested to attend and new members are welcome.

JACK AND JILL FOUNDATION

Annis Kehoe of Slaneylodge, Crossabeg, has provisionally set aside Saturday, December 8 for her annual fund-raising coffee morning and sale of produce, cakes, puddings, tarts, jams etc. This year all proceeds will go to the Jack & Jill Foundation who urgently need our financial help. Anyone who wishes to put in orders for Christmas cakes, puddings etc can contact Annis on 087-2426146.

55+ CLUB

The local 55+ club members will head off for a day trip on Tuesday, November 6. The bus will leave the Talbot hotel in Wexford at 9 a.m. picking up passengers in Crossabeg at 9.20 a.m. They will then head off to Newbridge Silverware visitor centre. They will round off the day with a 4-course dinner at the Seven Oaks hotel in Carlow at 5.30 p.m. The members will be travelling with Joe O'Brien Coach Tours. The cost is €45 per person and if interested please contact Mary on 0872737233.

On Wednesday, November 14, the south eastern active retirement Bowling tournament will take place at LeisureMAX in Wexford. All interested should hand in their name to the club secretary or contact her on 087-2737233.

A Make-up party with Edna Rothwell will take place in the Forge on Tuesday, November 20 at 2 p.m.

YOUTH CLUB

Get ready to boogie the night away this Friday, October 26 at the FDYS Halloween disco. Crossabeg youth club members who have signed up to go should board the bus at the community centre at 8.15 p.m. Please bring your parental consent slip form and €10 if you have not already paid.
