Table Quiz

A table quiz will be held in Foleys of Crossabeg on Friday next, January 30 at 9 p.m. This is a local G.A.A, fundraiser for Elaine Kehoe and Oisin Foley who are participating in the upcoming `Strictly club Dancing`competition. Your generous support would be appreciated.

Ladies Football

Crossabeg/Ballymurn Ladies football club are still looking for people to come on board to manage and help out with some of the underage teams. Anyone interested should contact either Donnacha McDonald (086-8343802) or Ann Doyle on 086-8330405. Membership fees for the year are as follows:- U10's and U12`s €30; U18's and under €50 and adults €70.

Break-ins

Text alert warns parishioners to be extra vigilant following break-ins and robberies in the Kereight and Deeps area of Crossabeg on Friday and Sunday last. Any suspicious sightings should be reported to the Guards on 053-9165200. Keep an eye on your neighbours property too.

Condolences

Mr. Denis McDonald, Clondalkin, Dublin (and formerly of Lonsdale, Crossabeg) died on January 19. His funeral Mass was offered up in Clondalkin parish church on Friday last followed by burial to Crossabeg cemetery.

Our condolences to his wife Helen, daughter Brenda, son-in-law, grandchildren, brother Paddy (Dublin) sisters Sr. Aine (U.K) and Nellie (Knockeen) nieces, nephews, extended McDonald and Murphy famiies, Crossabeg, relatives and friends.

Our condolences also to Mr. Ned Stafford and family, The Deeps, on the death of his brother Paddy, whose funeral took place following Requiem Mass in Glynn church on Saturday last to Whitechurch cemetery. R.I.P.

SNA Post

The DES recently approved an increase in SNA allocation for St. Patrick's national school, Crossabeg. The post is advertised on www.educationposts.ie. The closing date for applications is January 29 and the post will begin on February 16. For further details, please contact the school on 053 9159035.

Enrolment Forms

If you intend enrolling your child in St Patrick's school, Crossabeg, for September 2015 and are unsure his / her name is on the list, check immediately with Marie in the school office on 91-59035. Enrolment forms will be distributed shortly. The closing date for receipt of completed enrolment form is March 1.

Story Telling

The next session at Kyle Forge will take place on Sunday, February 1. Proceedings underway at 8 p.m. All are welcome. Refreshments are also served.

If your envelope has not been collected yet, make contact with your collector or leave it in at Foleys of Crossabeg.

Johnny Murphy Fund

A Benefit night will be held on Saturday night next, January 31 in Hotel Curracloe. All proceeds are in aid of the Johnny Murphy treatment fund to help this little boy from Ballymurn get a life-changing operation . Doors open at 8.30 p.m. and music will be supplied by The Shindigs and An Buachalli. There will be fantastic door prizes and a raffle on the night . Ticket at €10 are available on the door.

Church news

Daily Mass at 7.30 p.m. on Monday evenings as well as Mass on Wednesday and Friday morning at 9.30 a.m. Prayer meeting every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the parochial house. The Ferns Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes (Invalid pilgrim section) will take place from May 17 to May 22.

Application forms are now available in the Sacristy and must be submitted by March 1. Monday next, February 3 is the Feast of St. Blaise. It is a long standing tradition that candles are supplied by parishioners for their local church. If you would like to supply some for the coming year, please leave in the church over the weekend.

Likewise if you want to have candles blessed for your own home use, please label them, so that they will be not be confused with the church ones.

Walking club

It is hoped to get a walking club established in the parish. Once the weather starts to improve, why not get those walking shoes on and get out and start pounding the track in the new community field. If enough people are interested, walks round many scenic routes both in the county and outside may be arranged.
