Exercise bonanza in aid of Hospice Homecare
TWENTY FOUR HOURS of non stop circuit training is what one team of fitness fanatics need to achieve in their bid to raise funds for Wexford Hospice Homecare.
The marathon exercise event is set for this Saturday May 28 at the Step by Step Dance Studio in Westpoint, Clonard.
It will kick off at 2p.m. and will finish at 2p.m. the following day.
This is the second year this event has been held. Last year it raised a whopping €5000.
' We hope to match this this year', said Olly Gogarty, Fitness Instructor and organiser.
Commenting on people's generosity, even during a recession, he said, ' People really are amazing they gave so much last year'.
Circuit training is, for all intensive purposes, the completion of 8-12 exercises in rotation.
' These can vary from squats to lunges and press ups', explained Olly.
He continued, ' Some of the exercises on the day will include the use of kettle bells and weights.
With that in mind the participants realise it is certainly going to be a tough twenty four hours!
The event is very much a team effort and everyone taking part is expected to step in and out of the activity at their own pace.
Although, it is understood that it would be next to impossible to keep exercising for the full duration a number of the participants have elected to stay there for the full length of time and participate for as long as they possibly can. Members of the public are welcome to pop up to the studio on the day and lend their support. ' We will have a very big bucket with us and all donations are greatly appreciated', said Olly.
