A MAKEOVER on Wexford Main Street is a step closer following a Dulux paint event held at Traynor's Hardware in the town on Thursday night.

The project, headed up by Wexford Chamber, Wexford Borough Council, Wexford in Bloom and Dulux aims to spruce up the town centre, give the Main Street a new look and transform the shopping area into a more attractive and appealing destination.

Chamber CEO Madeleine Quirke said interest outweighed expectations and the logistics of consultations and meetings with Dulux representatives has taken time to organise.

'Your shopfront is the most important advertisement you have. It is what creates the public's first impression of your business. It makes the difference between potential customers either walking past, or calling in and making a purchase,' she said.

The evening included a short presentation on the value to premises of using Weathershield paint, experts were on hand to consult on colour/technical advice and local painters quoted preferential rates for the project. Weathershield orders placed by retailers by August 17 receive a special discount in Traynors which is the point of contact for any sales enquiries or requests for information.
