The only thing served at the barbecue held at Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club was brilliant food - much to the delight of everyone in attendance.

The event was organised in conjunction with the club's annual Wexford Open Tennis Competition, which attracted club members from numerous other counties and included participants from Dublin, Waterford, Wicklow, Carlow and Kildare.

The competition is held every year and while the action out on the courts was, as usual, top class once the competitive aspect of the weekend was completed the players were able to relax and unwind in the clubhouse.

A spokesperson for the organisers said it was a very enjoyable weekend of action culminating with a Sunday night barbecue providing the perfect social event.

There was also music entertainment provided with the Wild Turkeys on the Saturday night and Helena Bates bringing the house down with her amazing vocal ability the following night. Those attending the event also got to witness the rare site of a steam train travelling along the railway line at the back of the clubhouse which caused a bit of excitement.

The club also held boat trips on both days and these proved very popular with visitors.

'It was a great weekend of tennis and the social aspect was also very good,' said the spokesperson.

The competition was sponsored by Rocket Broadband and Kearney and Co. estate agents.

The club thanked everyone who attended especially representatives of clubs who travelled a long distances to participate.
