KILMORE

CAMOGIE NEWS

The u10 and u12 blitz's have now come to an end and the leagues have commenced. Kilmore u10s played St Ibars in Kilmore last Sunday and play St. Martins away next Tuesday. U12 league kicks off on Wednesday 22nd away to St. James at 6.30pm. Our u14s were narrowly beaten by Taghmon in the championship and their next league game is not until 26th June away to Ger O Hanrahans.

The "Come Hurl With Me" program has proven to be a great success with up to 20 parents and their children taking part. The 3rd coaching session is tonight wednesday 6.30pm. A huge thank you to Noel Wilson from Piercestown, Wexford camogie development officer, for giving the course.

The club would like to thank everyone who supported the club draw, selling and buying tickets.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Our u12s commenced round two of their league last Thursday and continued their unbeaten run by beating Shels 5-1 to 3 points. Well done to Nikki and the girls. They play Crossabeg tonight Wednesday in Ballymurn at 6.30pm. The U14s beat Shels 4.3 to 3.3 and lost out to Clonard 3.12 to 3 points.

Our senior team beat Shels B recently with a great performance scoring 3.10 to shels 1.6 and then beat Ballygarrett with a great score of 6.14 to 2.6.

The club would like to wish Katie Lawlor, who had a knee operation recently, a speedy recovery and hope to see her back between the posts soon. Also good luck to all team members who are sitting junior and leaving cert examinations.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The County Athletics Finals took place in a sun drenched Craanford last Saturday and Kilmore was well represented with 28 athletes competing.

It turned out to be a wonderful day's athletics, with our young competitors taking home 3 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze individual medals, 1 team silver and 1 team bronze.

Saoirse Burke, U16 discus, Criostoir Reville, U13 900m walk and Sophie Boxwell, U10 100m all took gold and now go on to represent Kilmore and Wexford in the Nationals Finals in Athlone in August. Thomas Power, U12 ball throw, Olivia McDonnell, U10 200m, Craig Carroll, U14 2k grass cycling and the U12 100 m relay team of Sam Boxwell, Fionn Byrne, Padraig, and Criostoir Reville got silver medals.

Our bronze medal winners were Sarah Kennedy, U12 600m, Padraig Reville, U12 ball throw and the U10 mixed relay team of Chris O'Connor, Olivia McDonnell, Ryan Moore and Sophie Boxwell.

We also had a number of athletes who reached their respective finals, Rebecca Burke, U12 600m, David Cunningham, U8 60m, Fionn Byrne and Sam Boxwell, U12 100m, Chris O'Connor, U10 200m, Ryan Carroll, U10 100m, Fionn Roche, U14 long jump, and the U12 girls relay team of Emma Cousins, Aine Maher, Sarah Kennedy and Rebecca Burke.

Also taking part on the day, and who had also qualified from our recent area finals, were Maeve Byrne, Ailbhe Tierney, Holly Koolhof, Grainne Bates, Ciara Moore, Marie Cole, Stephen McDonnell, Brad Koolhof, Dylan Moore, Kevin Shannon and Peter Cole.

Congratulations to all our athletes who took part and many thanks to all the parents who travelled on the day.

GARDEN OPEN DAY

Marie Goodwin will kindly open her garden again this year on the 26th June from 2 to 6pm. Afternoon tea will be served, plants will be on sale, admission is free, donations very welcome. All proceeds of the day will go towards the Mayglass Church Restoration Fund. Details of Bridie & Aidan Lambert's Garden Party to follow.

KILMORE UTD AGM

With the season just over the club are holding AGM early this year, it will take place this Thursday the 16th June at 9pm in Kilmore Community Hall. The club's main goal in the near future is to finalise the purchase of the grounds we are using at present.

We would like the support of the wider community as we embark on this venture, especially the parents of our under-age players. We feel we provide a good services to the children of our parish & in order for us to continue this it is vital we succeed with this project. Any help, no matter how small would assist greatly & we hope you can give up a bit of your time by attending the meeting this Thursday.

KILMORE ATHLETIC CLUB

A group of athletes took part in the County B Championship on thursday evening last in Kilrane School grounds. Everyone competed very well winning a total of 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals also 2 sets of relay medals were won.

The gold medal winners were Under 9 Ciara Moore 300m, David Cunningham Long Jump and U10 Clare Brauneisen 300m, Silver medals winners were Under 9 Jack Moore Long Jump, U10 Shauna White Long Jump, Grainne Bates 300m U12 William Cole 60m. Bronze medals winners were Under 9 Meave Byrne Ball Throw, Under 10 Grainne Bates Long Jump, Under 11 Marie Cole 60m and U12 William Cole Ball Throw.

Relay Medal winners were: gold Under 9 mixed team Jack Moore, David Cunningham, Sarah-Jane Dooley and Ciara Walsh, and silver Under 9 mixed relay team of Ryan Cunningham, Meave Byrne, Ciara Moore and Aoife White. Also well done to Aimee Barry and Evelyn Murphy. Congratulations to Saoirse Burke on winning a bronze medal in the National Schools Competition competing in the Juniors Girls Discus throwing a PB of 28m.15cm. This was a great achievement for her.

KILMORE GAA CLUB

Well done to all Under 8 hurlers who played in Rathangan last Thursday night against St. Annes. They fielded three teams and there was great excitement around each game. Keep up the great work and keep up the super hurling! At the complete other end of the club our Junior D hurlers were playing championship last week, again against St. Annes, and they had a great win, pulling well away with the victory in the second half.

That leaves the hurlers with maximum points from three championship games. The Parish and club BBQ is organised and tickets will go on sale soon. This will be a great night, so make sure to keep the 23rd July clear so you don't miss out!!

KILMORE AC UPDATES

Two of our athletes have represented their county at the all Ireland cross country community games held in Athlone recently. Well done to Rebecca Burke and Sarah Kennedy who both ran the 400m portion of the 4xU12 Girls 400-600m relay.

Two other athletes have represented Bridgetown VEC in the Schools championships recently. Well done to Taylor Bates who came second in the south Leinsters GU16 100m and ran well in the Leinsters. Well done to Saoirse Burke (Discus) who came first in the south Leinsters (Junior), second in the Leinsters and third in the All Ireland Schools championships held in Tullamore last weekend.

Congratulations Saoirse on your first All Ireland medal.

ALL BLACKS AFC

The Adult club will hold its presentation night in the Halfway House Ballycogley on Friday June 17th at 8-30pm. Food will be served and live music provided following the presentations.

Following the recent AGM, the club will hold a very important meeting in the Clubhouse on Monday 20th June at 8pm. Key decisions regarding number of teams and team management for the 2011/2012 season for all adult ladies and gents teams will be ratified at this meeting so all current and intending members are urged to attend.

LOTTOS

The All Blacks lotto was not won on Monday 6th June. Numbers were 4, 6, 12, 29. Four match 3 winners Kay Busher, John Butler, Sheila Corish, William Walsh. Jackpot was €9,600 last Monday night in Half Way House.

Kilmore United's Lotto was not won on Monday 6thJune. Numbers wers 1, 6, 18, 30. No match 3 winner.Jackpot was €9,750 last Monday night in Quigleys Lounge.

Kilmore Community Lotto was not won on Wednesday 8th June. Numbers were 2,6,10,22. Match 3 winners were Ann Delaney, George Shannon, Stephen Whelan. Jackpot was €8,400 last Tuesday night in GAA Clubrooms.

DEATHS

The sudden death of Pat Corish, Ten Acre took place last week. Golly, as he was known by, was a very well known man and was a very hard working man and very well respected and over the last number of years had not had very good health but still he kept going. To his wife Marie Mother Sheila family and friends we sympathise on their great loss.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratulations to Mark Devereux, Kilmore Quay and Gillian Naessens, Rosslare Harbour who got married last week. Mark is son of Ann and John we wish this couple many happy years of married life to gether. Also congratulations to Iris Doyle Ballyharty and Nihal Wagle from England. Iris is daughter of Josie and Charle. We wish this couple many happy years of married life to gether.

DEATH

The death of Sr Laboure, St John of God Convent Newtown Road Wexford took place last week. Sr Laboure spent many many years in The Parish of Kilmore and was a very popular and most liked person and her death came as a shock to the people of Kilmore who knew her. Sr Laboure was 97 years of age and was a great cook.To her community and all her friends we sympatise on their great loss.

BITS AND PIECES

Congratulations to our Parish Priest Fr Doyle who recently celebrated 40 years as a Priest.

Sympathy to Fr Pat O'Connor on the death of his sister last week.
