BRIDGETOWN HANDBALL

The first of the adult County 60 by 30 Finals took place recently in Ballymitty. Bob Byrne took the Junior C title with a 20 win against Paul Cleary from the home club. Paul started the brighter and was on top for long periods of that first game until Bob clawed his way back into it and, once he secured the first game, he went from strength to strength to finish the match off comfortably in the second game. Well done Bob.

Micheal Busher lost his Leinster Junior B singles semi-final against fellow Wexford man JR Finn from Ballymitty. It was a very close game that could have gone either way. Micheal lost the first game by the tightest of margins 21-20, but came back strongly in the second to win it 21-8. JR got most of the breaks in the third and won it 21-14.

Micheal got back on track in the County Junior B final with a 2-0 win against his club mate Bob Byrne last Saturday. It was a very competitive game and Bob certainly pushed Micheal all the way. Micheal still has 2 more finals to compete in, Juinior singles and doubles with Eamon Codd.

At juvenile level the 60 by 30 County finals continued over the past week with Liam Shannon and Aaron Wright Power going down to Bryan Kehoe and Seamus Callan-Lyons from Castlebridge in the U16 Doubles Final held in Templeudigan. It was a disappointing final for the lads because, after losing the first game, they got back into it and without playing that well, were only 2 points away from levelling he match. It was not to be however and the Castlebrridge pair closed the match out.

There was disappointment also for Stevie Lawlor and Paddy Scallan in the U15 doubles as they had to give a walkover in the final because Paddy was injured playing hurling a couple of days before the Final. Efforts to get the match postponed were unsuccessful. Two more finals are on this week with Liam Shannon playing Bryan Kehoe in the U16 Singles Final and another all Bridgetown game between Jack Roche and Stephen Greene in the B Final.

In Leinster Jack Roche lost in a tight game to William Quaile ftom Wicklow in the U17 Singles. Liam Shannon received a walkover from Daniel Curry from Wicklow in the U16 Singles and he now plays Evan Sheridan from Meath. Stevie Lawlor is paired with Seamus Sinnott in the U15 Doubles and both games will be played in Tinahely at the weekend.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games County Finals took place recently in Craanford, Gorey. It was a good day for Kilmore winning 4 medals.
