Lisieux Relics to be showcased in monastery

David Looby

The Relics of three saints of the one family St Therese of Lisieux and her parents, Zelie and Louis - are being brought to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families 2018 today (Tuesday) and will be at Mount Carmel Monastery in New Ross in September.

The relics will be present in the RDS for the opening ceremony of the Pope's visit in Croke Park for the Festival of Families and in the Sanctuary in the Phoenix Park for the Eucharist celebrated by Pope Francis.

Mount Carmel Mother Prioress Sr Anne said: 'These same relics will arrive in Mount Carmel Monastery at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, and depart at 10 a.m. the next morning, Sunday, September 2, to enable those who cannot attend the congress in person to be able to connect with the congress and to make their own personal veneration of this important Carmelite Family of Saints.'

Sr. Anne warmly invites all members of the public to join with the local Carmelite Community in prayer any time between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 1 and from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on the following day.

Sunday Morning Mass at 8 a.m. will take place as usual.

As parking spaces in the monastery are limited those attending are asked to walk if possible and to leave the parking for those unable to walk.

'All are most welcome to be associated with this celebration of family,' Sr Anne said.
