Wexford Hospice Homecare benefited from a fun day and darts tournament held in Culleton's Bar, Whitemill, which saw them receive a cheque for €2,271.10.

The event, which was organised by the family of the late Michael Malone of Liam Mellows Park, is an annual event that has raised upwards €6,000 in the past four years.

Michelle Malone explained that the family had started holding the event, following the sad passing of her father in 2014, to give back to various charities. Her father, she said, had been an avid darts fan and thrower, something that he passed on to his five daughters and one son.

'We all played in the tournament. He passed his love of the game on to us - he played for years.'

The family also organised various games and events throughout the day with a bouncy castle to keep kids entertained, a barbecue to keep everyone well fed, and spot prizes.

Ms Malone expressed her thanks to all those who had supported the event, helped out on the day, or donated money or spot prizes. She also thanked Culleton's Bar for the use of the premises.
