The Wexford South branch of the MS Society has expressed delight at the success of this year's Tullicanna Music Festival for which it was the beneficiary.

The festival was held in Stafford's Pub and the money raised on the night, totalling €3946.75, was presented in the venue to the Chairperson of the local MS branch Ruby Murphy.

Speaking to this newspaper Ms Murphy said it was a great event and she acknowledged the support and hard work of the festival committee.

'It was the second year in-a-row that the festival was held and it has raised over €8,000 so far which is fantastic,' she said.

A significant aspect of the fundraising drive is that all of the money raised through the festival stays local and is used for physiotherapy.

Local businesses sponsored food for a barbecue which was also held on the night and the community spirit that permeates the event every year adds greatly to the overall atmosphere of the occasion.

'There was also a raffle with some great prizes on offer and we are just delighted with the level of support the organisation receives from the event,' said Ms Murphy.
