New LGBT youth group

A NEW Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Youth Group has opened in Wexford town in the recent months. It is located in the Cloisters Youth Cafe at the F.D.Y.S. centre on Francis Street.

The service aims to provide a safe and secure environment for young people aged 16-23 to discuss their sexuality. The group meet every Saturday from 4-6p.m.

David Clark, L.G.B.T. Youth Worker, facilitates the sessions. He explains that aside from providing the young people with a forum for discussion the group also engage in activities such as art and workshops.

He hopes that more young people will come forward and join the group as it can offer support to individuals struggling to come to terms with opening up to family and/or friends about their sexuality.
