Order of Malta vehicles blessed

THE Wexford unit of the Order of Malta had their vehicles blessed at Mass on Saturday evening.

The local Order of Malta Unit, based at the top of St John's Road, had their three ambulances, 4x4 and training car blessed at The Friary.

Fr David Young invited the congregation at the 7.30 p.m. Mass outside to witness the blessing of the five vehicles.

The three ambulances are relatively new to the Order of Malta, having been acquired earlier this year, while the other two vehicles are also equipped as ambulances.

There are currently more than 30 active members of the Order of Malta in Wexford, including the younger members of the unit.

The Order of Malta do not receive any State funding to carry out their important and potentially life saving work at various events throughout Co Wexford, but instead rely solely on the support and generosity of people from the Model County.
