MASS FOR MICHAELA
Last Saturday night, 15th January, the vigil Mass in St. Patrick's Church, Oulart was offered by Fr. John Jordan, P.P. for the repose of the soul of the late Michaela McAreavey and to pray for the families bereaved by this tragedy.
The G.A.A. community in the parish, in common with similar communities all over the country, extend heartfelt sympathy to the Harte and McAreavey families who are devastated by the death of this beautiful young woman who was admired and respected by all who were privileged to have known her.
G.A.A. SUPER DRAW
Oulart-The Ballagh G.A.A. Super Draw that was postponed because of the snow will now take place on Friday 4th February. Parishioners and people from the surrounding areas have been most generous in their response to the ticket sellers and, in spite of the recession, have welcomed the opportunity to support the club in its endeavours on and off the playing fields.
Anyone who was given tickets to sell and has not yet returned them to the club is asked to return them, sold or unsold, to any club officer, committee member or draw promoter as soon as possible. The draw committee will be in the upper complex this Wednesday from 8pm to take in tickets and money.
G.A.A. AND CAMOGIE
With just two weeks to the Leinster final of the club championship (30th January, in Carlow) against O'Loughlin Gaels, Kilkenny our senior hurlers are putting the finishing touches to their preparations while our senior camogie team are also being fine-tuned for their all-Ireland semifinal clash away to Killimor, Galway on 6th February.
It is indeed a wonderful situation for the parish to be in, with our talented players, men and women, capable of taking on the best in the country and vying for provincial and national honours. Supporters are encouraged to highlight the occasion by making the parish a sea of red-and-black in the run-up to the games.
Contact Tommy Davitt if you want flags or supporters gear.
