Congratulations to the Wexford Senior team who had a fabulous win over Cork in the recent All Ireland Final. An epic performance by all on the day and especially well done to Karen Atkinson, captain, and Ursula Jacob who received the honour of player of the match.
This team had no less than nine of our local girls on the panel, all who played a vital part in the team's success. Heartiest congratulations to Karen and Colleen Atkinson, Ursula and Helena Jacob, Mary and Una Leacy, Stacey Redmond, Shelley Kehoe and Shauna Sinnott. Well done also to Bridget Moran who was in charge of First Aid.
Following much deserved celebrations these girls along with the other members of local senior team will now focus on the upcoming County final which will take place on Saturday 29th September at 4p.m. in Bellefield. Their opponents will be Shelmaliers St. Ibar's and a superb contest is anticipated by all.
The Camogie committee would like to thank all those who helped organise the homecoming celebrations in The Ballagh, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the large numbers who turned out. Your continued help and support is much appreciated by all.
Oulart-The Ballagh has had the great privilege of providing Co. Wexford with the captains of the four camogie teams that have won Senior All-Ireland titles in recent years. Take a bow Mary Leacy (2007), Una Leacy (2010), Ursula Jacob (2011) and Karen Atkinson (2012).
Most of those named players have also won every possible honour, including all underage Co. Championships, Feile na nGael, Colleges All-Ireland, club and county Leinster titles, All-Ireland Club championship, All-Ireland Sevens, Ashbourne Cup and League and All-Star Awards.
