OUR LADY'S ISLAND

COISTE NA NOG A.G.M

The A.G.M. of Our Lady's Island Coiste na nOg, will take place in the Community Centre, tomorrow Thursday, 20th January, 2011 at 7.30 pm. Parents of underage players, or anyone willing to lend a hand with underage teams etc., are invited to attend.

TOPS CONCERT

Our Lady's Island Tops group are staging a Variety Concert this Friday, 21st January in the Community Hall at 8p.m.

Variety of entertainment including Ballycogley Players with their sketch "Down the Hatch". All in aid of O.L.I. Tops group, A great night's entertainment is promised.

G.A.A. CLUB A.G.M.

Our Lady's Island GAA Club held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, 7th January with a very good turnout of members. The Chairman Padraig Power extended a welcome to everyone and extended sympathy to families who suffered bereavement during the year.

Congratulations to Sean Pettitt who was appointed the new President of the club, to succeed the late Leo Carthy. A tribute was paid by club Chairman Padraig Power to the late Leo Carthy and his son Ger, on behalf of the family, thanked the Club and its members for their tremendous support and help at the time of his passing.

The following were appointed as officers of the club for 2011. Chairman - Padraig Power, Vice Chairman - Pat Reville, Secretary - Rosaleen Keegan, Assistant Secretary - Kevin McHale, Treasurer - David Ormonde, County Board Rep - Ger Carthy, P.R.O. - Audrey Devereux, Registrar - Trisha Whitty.

District Reps - Kevin Kehoe and David Maloney. A letter will be issued shortly to all members regarding membership fees for 2011 which are now due.

THRIFT FUND

The Tacumshane Thrift Fund re-opened for 2011 on Sunday last and will operate in the Old School after Mass every Sunday. This is a great way to save for Christmas.

RAFFLE RESULTS

The Parish Raffle, postponed before Christmas, was held in the Community Hall on Sunday morning. Fr. Brendan Nolan presided at the draw.

The following were prize-winners: 1st Prize: Painting of Our Lady's Island - M. O'Doherty , Waterford. 2nd Prize: Voucher for Lobster Pot - Catherine Byrne, Moortown, Ballymitty. 3rd Prize: €100 Lighthouse Bar - Anthony Corish, Coldblow. 4th Prize: Kelly's Hotel Vooucher - Margaret Day, Ashley Lodge, Tagoat. 5th Prize: Hamper from Stable Diet - Carmel Hennessy, Waterford.

Fr. Nolan, on behalf of the Parish Council, thanked all the sponsors of prizes and all who contributed to the raffle which was a great financial success.

LADIES COASTAL CLUB

The Ladies Coastal Club welcomes 2011 with its first meeting of the year this Thursday 20th January at 8pm in Our Lady's Island Community Centre. Plans will be finalised for our post-Christmas Night on the town, as well as the rescheduled Cookery Demonstration with Chef Helen Cullen-Meyler, with Nutritional Snippets supplied by Maeve Callaghan, supporting local Volunteer Geraldine Evans' trip to the Special Olympics in Athens. New and familiar faces are welcome - looking forward to seeing you there!
