The May meeting of Our Lady's Island I.C.A. guild was held on Monday night last in the Community Hall. President Mary Hegarty welcomed everyone and extended sympathy to the family of the late Clive Gouldson. Wishes for good health were extended to Kitty Keating, Nano Byrne and Eddie Redmond.
Mary congratulated guild member Dee Devereux on being declared "Federation Person of the Year" at the recent A.G.M. Angela Pettit gave a run down on the finances. Arrangements were made for taking part in the Special Occasions competition. It was decided to hold a Cake Sale for the guild on Sunday, 5th June after 11a.m. Mass.
Eileen is arranging a Mystery Tour on 29th June and non-members are welcome. Names and deposits will be taken at the next meeting. We are also reminded that Margaret Saunders will be part of a group appearing on Nationwide on 10th June.
The competition for the "Nicest Brooch" was won by Peg Ellard and the raffle was won by Ina White. The next meeting will take place on Monday, 13th June.
The A.G.M. of the guild was held recently also. Lila Vaughan presided in the absence of Mary Hegarty who was on holiday. Lila read a wonderful "Review of the Year" compiled by Mary. As the officers and committee were willing to remain on for the coming year, no election was necessary. President: Mary Hegarty, Vice-President: Lila Vaughan, Secretary: Anne Carthy. Treasurer: Angela Pettit. P.R.O.: Peg Ellard. Social Secretary: Eileen Lavery. Competition Secretary: Mary Hayes.
