Congratulations to Carne Riding Club who have qualified for the Team ShowJumping Championships at the Dublin Horse Show in R.D.S. in August for the seventh time in the Club's history.

Aisling Quinn on Gold Dancer, Albert Whitehead on Ballyell Finbar, Christine Keymer on Ballyell Quickpick and Captain Laura Whitney on Mojito qualified for the R.D.S. at the Riding Club Festival in Stradbally, Laois on Saturday, 11th June. Well done to them all and best of luck in the Dublin Horse Show.


Parish Patrons details are as follows: Churchtown, Tacumshane - Thursday, 28th July at 7.30p.m. Tacumshane cemetery - Sunday 31st July at 2p.m., followed by Annual Garden Party. Our Lady's Island - Sunday, 14th August - St. Iver's 5.30p.m. Island cemetery 6p.m. Churchtown (Carne) 6.30p.m. New Cemetery 7p.m., followed by Mass in the cemetery.


There was a good attendance at the final guild meeting prior to summer break. President Mary Hegarty had a warm welcome for everyone. She thanked all who helped make the recent Cake Sale such a success.

The recent Special Occasion evening in Bree was a very pleasant and the Guild entry fared very well in the competition. Mary thanked all the members who took part. Congratulations to Camross on being the overall winner with Taghmon coming second.

Eileen took bookings for the Mystery Tour on 29th June, the only detail she disclosed was the evening meal in Whitford. Bus leaving the Island at 9a.m.

Congratulations to Lila Vaughan, Angela Pettit and Mary Hayes who took part in the recent Oylegate Mini Marathon on behalf of Wexford Hospice Homecare. The competition for the Nicest Rose was won by Peg Ellard.

Well done to Peg Ellard on being awarded "Guild Member of the Year" - not the first time for Peg to achieve this - congratulations. The evening was rounded off with a lovely tea served by Eileen and Angela. Mary Hegarty wished a very pleasant summer break and looks forward to seeing everyone back again in September.


Our Junior Infants for September 2011 visited the school on Thursday 16th June. This was preceded on Wednesday 8th June by an information evening for parents. We look forward to welcoming the twenty one children to Scoil Mhuire on September 1st (when the school will reopen for children). The new school website is now up and running at


Why not join us on a relaxed coastal walk, twice weekly, Wednesday and SaturdayRelaxed walking about 1.5 hours with tasty food along the way. Areas include Kilmore Quay, Carne, St. Helen's, and The Hook. Start off in Drinagh Garden Centre with coffee/pastries.
