OVER THE WATER

TODDLER GROUP The Parent, Toddler and Baby group meet every Thursday morning from 10.30 a.m until 12 noon In Castlebridge community centre. All are most welcome. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Castlebridge Community Development Association Co-op Limited will hold their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, September 28 in the community centre at 8.15 p.m.

All are welcome to attend especially newcomers to the area, as the committee are hoping to recruit volunteers for the new community garden project which they hope to get off the ground in the near future. Further details will be available on the night.

PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

LADIES FOOTBALL

It's been a busy week of fixtures for the Shelmalier Ladies football club. Congratulations to the senior team and management on bringing the Noel Quill Cup home after their comprehensive victory over Clonee on a score line of 10 -7 to 3 - 4. The team now play the Meath champions on the weekend of October 3.

The club are looking into the possibility of running a supporters bus so if you are interested in travelling please contact club chairperson Brenda Fox on 0876178488 or any member of the committee.

The minor team have also qualified for the county final defeating Ballyhogue on a score line of 6-14 to 2-3. They will now take on Clonee in the final with the date and venue to be decided.

The U14 team have also qualified for the county final having defeated Clonee on a score line of 5-7 to 0-6 . They will now play St. Martins in the final and the venue and the date has yet to be decided.

The U16 team are in the group stages of the League championship and are due to play St. Annes and Crossabeg /Ballymurn this week. Best wishes to them.

The Junior team have qualified for the quarter final stages of the championship and have also qualified for the League semi final.

Gaelic for mothers continues to grow in the club with the team lining out for the half time entertainment in the county final. Their opponents were the Taghmon/Camross Gaelic for Mothers team. Congratulations to all who took part.

Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Hollymount and new players are welcome. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the emphasis is on fun, so if you can go to one or both evenings, the girls would love to see you. Please contact Brenda Fox on 087-6178488 for more details.

YOGA CLASSES

Yoga classes will begin on September 30 in Castlebridge community centre and continue on Thursday evenings from 8 - 9.30 p.m every week. The cost is €60 for the six week course. You can beat stress by learning to stretch and breathe and relax totally.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

The after-school club is once again taking place in the community centre, Castlebridge on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4 p.m. The club is open for national school going children in Castlebridge and includes a variety of activities among them baking, art, games and tours.

COMPUTER CLASSES

Castlebridge Community Development will be running more computer classes soon in Castlebridge for a few hours each week. So whether you are a beginner with computers or have more advanced skills, there could be a course for you. Call Diarmuid on 053-9155800 for further information.

GAA NEWS

The Shels junior team beat Faythe Harriers last Friday in Pairc Charman (3-12 to 2-10 ) to win the B section of the junior hurling championship. Playing against the wind they went into the break a goal down but they dug deep for the second half and went on to win out on the day.

A strong team performance led by captain Fergie Parker, Vinny Parker, Mick Kelly and Seamie Harding and the full team was Brian Murphy, Darren Malone, Fergie Parker (0-1F) Kevin O'Leary, Conor Tobin, Vinny Parker, James Murphy, Seamie Harding, John Redmond (07,6F) Craig Potter (0-1) Noel Mythen (1-0) Stephen Corrigan, Shane Griffith (2-1) Mick Kelly (0-2) Feargal Hynes while the subs introduced were Ronan Kavanagh, Willie O'Shaughnessy and Johnny Campbell.

The club entered two teams in the Jack Berry U8 hurling Blitz in Rathangan recently. Team black beat Glynn/Barntown and Our Lady's Island, while team yellow lost to Glynn/Barntown despite trojan efforts from the lads but held on for a good victory over Our Lady's Island.

Players on the day in alphabetical order were Darragh Brownrigg, Barry Cloak, Sean Cullen, Jason Dempsey, Joe Devereux, David Doyle, Sean Og Flanagan, Paul Hearne, Ryan Kielthy, Tiernan Malone, Ben McAleese, Eoin McCarthy, Adam O'Leary, Darren O'Leary, Dylan O'Neill, Conor Roche & Mark Scallan. Thanks to coaches Declan Kielthy, Teresa Roche, Tomas Scallan and Richie Malone ( Referee).

The Shels were well represented on the County U17 team that travelled to Killarney last weekend. Glen Murphy, Ardcavan captained the team and lined out at centre forward, Paraic O'Leary, Garrylough took the centre back position whilst Shane Birney, Castlebridge was in the goal. They lost narrowly to Cork and beat Galway to take the Shield.

CAMOGIE CHAMPS

The Shelmalier GAA club would like to send their sincere congratulations to Kate Kelly, Katrina Parrock and Bridget Curran on their outstanding performances in the Wexford jersey in Croke Park on Sunday last. Katrina's and Kate's scoring exhibition was a joy to watch by the large number of 'Over the Water' people who travelled to the match.

FIT FOR LIFE CLASSES

Fit for life classes take place on Monday mornings from 10-11 a.m in Castlebridge hall. This is an excellent class designed to allow you work at your own pace and is great for getting in shape. LOTTO

The Shelmalier GAA club had no winner of this week's lotto and the numbers drawn were 4,14,24 and 26.

There were three match 3 winners, Jim Redmond, Mag Byrne and Esther Wilson and each received €67. Next week's jackpot will be €3,200.
