OVER THE WATER

SCREEN SCHOOL NEWS: Due to the recent bad weather conditions, the Christmas raffle had to be postponed but will now take place in Freddies bar on Monday next, December 20 at 9.30 p.m with great prizes to be won. Please remember to return all raffle cards, sold or unsold by tomorrow, Thursday (December 16) Your support is greatly appreciated. A big thank you as well to all the generous Sponsors.

The annual Book Fair began on Monday last and continues today, Wednesday, December 15 from 1.30 - 3.30 p.m. Remember the school library will benefit from the sales. The school calendar will be on sale during Christmas week. Check your childs schoolbag for further details.

The school Nativity play takes place on Wednesday, December 22. The school will close on Thursday, December 23 at 12.30 p.m with a special visit from Santa Claus in store for the children.

CARDS

The weekly winners of the partners 45 in Hotel Curracloe were Kathleen Leacy and Jim Jackman. Final qualifier takes place tomorrow night, Thursday, December 16. Players must have played 6 nights to qualify for the finals.

WALKING CLUB

Well done to all those who braved and snow and ice and completed the walk at Raven Point Loop walk on Sunday last. The next walk takes place tonight, Wednesday at 7 p.m. from the Wexford Bus stop on Redmond road. New members welcome. Check out details on the club on www.shelmaliers.ie-photossocial 2010.

GAA LOTTO

Results of the Shelmalier GAA club lotto draw for Wednesday, December 8:-The main prize was €5,600 and the numbers drawn were 9, 16, 21 & 29. There was no jackpot winner but 3 match 3 winners each receiving €67: Michael Redmond, Lorraine Howlin and Lacey Girls. Next week's jackpot stands at €5,800.

As a token of appreciation to the large numbers of loyal supporters of the draw, a special Christmas lotto draw will take place on Mondays next ( December 20). This special draw will not only include the usual big money prizes but will have many additional prizes added for supporters. The club would like to sincerely thank all their supporters for their continued help and assistance thereby ensuring the continued development at Hollymount. If you want to be in with a chance to win one of these prizes, tickets can be purchased from any of the local shops and pubs or from any club member.

SOCCER CLUB LOTTO

Curracloe United AFC had no winner of their jackpot lotto last weekend, and the numbers drawn were 5, 12, 14 & 15. There were 3 match 3 winners and each received 50, Aidan Maguire, Ballina; Niall Hurley, Ballina; Aidan Doyle, Begerin.

The club also held a special Christmas draw and the following were the winners:Eileen Furlong, Curracloe (Brandy); John Furlong, Curracloe (Whiskey); Colm Tynan, Curracloe (Vodka); Bones Furlong, Curracloe (Whiskey); Noel Howlin, Curracloe (Vodka); Anna Monahan, 3, Blakes Glen, Curracloe (Wine). Next weekends jackpot stands at €11.250 and the draw will take place in the Tavern on Sunday night, December 19.

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

As Christmas approaches, the Shelmalier GAA club would like to take this opportunity to send Christmas greetings to all members, players, parents and supporters and to say a big thank you for your continued help and support. They very much appreciate that with such teamwork among a large number of people both on and off the field of play, the club will continue to serve the needs of the community and its people both now and into the future. A very happy and prosperous New Year to one and all.

CONDOLENCES

The death occured last week of Mrs. Sadie Cloney (nee Lyndon) Curracloe, who was in her 80's. Pre-deceased by her husband Denis, she is survived by her sons Seamus, Michael and Denis, daughter Ann, grandchildren, brother, Willie (Screen) sisters Eileen (Kavanagh, Screen) Bridie (Somers, Screen) and Mairead (O'Connor, Screen ) relatives and friends, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy. Her remains were removed from Knockeen nursing home to Curracloe church on Monday evening last and burial took place to the adjoining cemetery after Requiem Mass on Tuesday. R.I.P.

Deepest sympathy is also extended to the family of the late Beatrice Murphy (nee O'Loughlin) Coolrainey, Curracloe, whose funeral took place last week in Curracloe. Pre-deceased by her husband Tom, she is survived by her sons Dick and Francis, daughters Mary and Betty and extended family members. May she rest in peace. R.I.P.

PORTER HOUSE PARTY

A Christmas party will be held in the Porter House, Castlebridge, on Wednesday, December 22. This promises to be a great night with lots of entertainment, spot prizes, crackers, homemade mince pies, mulled red wine and hot food also served. DJ John Kenny will provide music to get you in the Christmas mood. Admission is free and all are welcome. Not a night to be missed and a great way to get you in the Christmas party mood.
