OVER THE WATER

WALKING CLUB

The Shelmalier club's next beginners walk takes place this evening, Wednesday, January 19 from the bus stop on Redmond road in Wexford, commencing at 7 p.m. The next Sunday morning walk will meet at the Shelmalier GAA complex at 9 a.m. and the walk will take place in Kilmore Quay using the Sli na Slainte routes. YOGA CLASSES

Yoga classes will resume on Thursday, January 20 in Castlebridge community centre. All are most welcome, new and existing members. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket for relaxation. For further queries contact Colleen on 087-9374131.

CARDS

The weekly winners of the cards in Hotel Curracloe were Peggy Kelly and George Doran. Cards continue every Thursday night at 9 p.m. until Easter.

SOUTH EAST DRAW

Curracloe United AFC had 4 winners in the 20th super south east soccer draw. The second prize of a choice of holiday or €2,000 went to Alanah and Sean Tynan, Curracloe (seller Mollie Gordon); €75 went to Owen Parker, Killenagh (seller Owen Parker); €75 also to Liam Kelly, 3, Upper John Street, Wexford (seller Seanie Murphy) and €75 to Ann-Marie and James Cloney, Ballineskar, Curracloe (seller John Furlong). The final draw will take place on February 18.

PANTO NEWS

Under the watchful eye of producer Ray Quigley. rehearsals are in full swing for the upcoming Screen/Curracloe Pantomime Societys production of Cinderella which will be staged in Screen hall from Thursday, February 3 to Sunday February 6 inclusive.

Choreographer Fran Cullen is putting the dancers through their paces and the music will be in the capable hands of Theresa and The Stars. Keep an eye out for details on booking in the coming weeks.

BACK IN BUSINESS

The Parent Toddler & Baby Group started back on Thursday morning last and meet every week in Castlebridge community centre from 10.30 a.m till 12 noon. All are most welcome. Tae Kwon Do classes take place in Castlebridge hall every Monday and Thursday from 4.30 - 5.30 p.m. and on Saturday from 1.30 - 2.30 p.m. Little Ninja classes take place on Saturdays at 11 a.m. for under 6's.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Shelmalier GAA Senior club Annual General Meeting will take place in Hollymount Complex on Saturday next, January 22 at 5 p.m. All are welcome.

DEVELOPMENT LOTTOS

The Shelmalier GAA club had no winner of this week's jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5,8,25,26. There were three match 3 winners, Noel Howlin, Noel Howlin, Gary & Adam, c/o Sharon Carr. Next weeks jackpot will be €6,600.

Curracloe United AFC had no winner of their jackpot on Sunday night last. The winning numbers drawn were 6, 18, 20 & 21. There was one match 3 winner, Maggie Ryan, Ballymurn who received €150. Next weekends jackpot stands at €12,500 and the draw will take place in the Roadhouse.

JIM BYRNE CUP

The Shelmaliers minor football team got the defence of the Byrne Cup off to a winning start in Castletown last Sunday with a convincing 1-18 to 1-7 win. A slow start meant that Castletown raced into an early 1-1 to no score lead. However the winners of this tournament for the last four years were not about to relinquish their crown so easily and the Shels lads gradually found their form and by half time led by 5 points.

The second half was all one way traffic as the holders put on a very impressive display scoring 11 points. They now go on to the quarter final where they travel to face the tournament favourites Fethard on Sunday, January 23 at 2 p.m.

Best on the day were Eoin Nolan, Simon Donohue, Sean Byrne, James Cash and Dean Corrigan.

PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

LADIES FOOTBALL

The Shelmalier Ladies Football club are holding their annual general meeting on Friday night next, January 21 at 7.30 p.m in the community centre in Castlebridge . They are asking all players, mentors & parents and anyone interested in becoming involved in the club in any capacity to go along on the night.

PARENTS MEETING

A Parents council meeting will take place to-morrow night, Thursday, January 20 at 8 p.m in Screen school. Your views and opinions would be greatly appreciated at this meeting and the committee are looking forward to seeing you there. Please note information nights will be held in February and March with guest speakers to attend. More information at a later date.

A total of €857 was raised from the sale of the school calendars and a huge thank you to all the sponsors and all who supported it.

CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

Pupils at St. Margaret's national school in Curracloe are all glad to be back to school after the holidays. The staff and parents would like to thank everyone who helped clear the snow and grit from the footpaths before Christmas.

Children from Ms. Lambkin and Ms Doyle's classes performed their nativity plays in the school on Thursday, January 13. Well done to all on a fantastic performance.

Many thanks to the Parents Association who provided selection boxes and other treats for the children in the school. They were given out to the children this week due to cancellation of events before Christmas.

Swimming lessons re-commenced on Friday of last week at Ferrybank pool. The lessons are very well supported by the pupils and will run for 10 weeks.

Curracloe Parents Association would like to thank everyone who supported their annual church gate collection to raise funds for the children's Christmas party. In total €311.83 was raised.
