There is another beginners walk starting at 7 p.m. at the Wexford bus stop, Redmond road, Wexford this evening, Wednesday, January 26. On Sunday morning next there is a walk to Raven wood, Curracloe and all are asked to assemble at the carpark at 9 a.m.


It's all systems go for the production of Cinderella by Screen/Curracloe Pantomime Society which takes place in Screen hall from Thursday, February 3 to Sunday, February 6, commencing at 8 p.m nightly. Bookings can be made by phoning Mary on 053-9138674 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m and from 6 p.m to 10 p.m daily.

Do go along and enjoy a great night's entertainment with some of the old familiar faces such as Simon Walsh, John Kelly, Sheena Bolger and Patricia Redmond in action, and one never knows what they may come out with on stage. So we are warned.

There are also some newcomers this year, Donal O'Brien, Barry Hearne & Sean Byrne. Keep a special eye out for the Minuet Dancers as they will be appearing soon on Strictly Come Dancing. With Ray Quigley as Producer of Cinderella, Choreographers Fran & Dawn, Frank Cashin as stage manager, Noreen Hearne in charge of costumes and Theresa & The Stars at the helm you will be assured of a great nights entertainment. So don't forget to book early to avoid disappointment.


The annual Cabaret for the Tracie Lawlor Trust for Cystic Fibrosis takes place on Friday, February 25 in the Talbot hotel. Tickets are now on sale and a great night of entertainment and dancing is in store for just €5. MC on the night will be George Lawlor. Contact 087-1661703 or 087-2696983 for further details. The Shelmalier GAA club held their senior club AGM recently and the following officers were elected for the coming year. President Fr.Walter Forde, P.P; Patron Fr. J. Fitzpatrick, C.C. Jim Byrne Cup The Shels had an emphatic win over Fethard in an away match on Sunday last and have now secured their place in the semi final of the Jim Byrne Cup. The final score was 2-13 to 0-6. The entire team gave an outstanding performance with Graham Staples, Kevin O'Connor, Eoin Nolan and Simon Murphy to the fore.

The team consisted of Shane Birney, Eoin Nolan, Conor Tobin, Simon Donohue, Graham Staples, Paraic O'Leary, Eoghan Fitzgerald, AJ Lehane, James Cash, Simon Murphy, Glen Murphy, Jack Murphy, Kevin O'Connor, Craig McCabe, Neal Rossiter and the subs introduced were Kevin Byrne, Mark Mythen, Eoin O'Leary, and Evan Devereux.


The Shelmalier GAA club had no winner of this week's jackpot. The numbers drawn were 12,14,15,22. There were four match 3 winners, John Cogley, Mairead Potter, Lily Reville and Josie & Me and each received €50. Next weeks jackpot will be €6,800.

Curracloe United AFC had no winner of their weekly jackpot and 2 match 3 winners who received €75, Noeleen Murphy, Blackwater and Eileen and John Furlong, Curracloe. The numbers drawn were 15, 23, 24 & 25. Next weekends draw will take place in the Tavern on Sunday, January 30 and the jackpot will stand at €12,750.


Classes in community centre Yoga classes resumed in Castlebridge community centre on Thursday of last week. New and existing members are most welcome. The Parent Toddler & Baby Group are back in action and meet every week from 10.30 a.m till 12 noon.


Tae Kwon Do classes take place in Castlebridge hall every Monday and Thursday from 4.30 - 5.30 p.m. and on Saturday from 1.30 - 2.30 p.m. Little Ninja classes take place on Saturdays at 11 a.m. for under 6's.
