OVER THE WATER

COFFEE MORNING

A Coffee morning in aid of Castlebridge Reading Rooms will take place in the community centre, Castlebridge, on Wednesday, July 4 from 9.30 a.m to 12,30 p.m. Your generous support would be appreciated.

CAMOGIE NEWS

The St. Ibars/Shelmalier junior team defeated the Rapparees on Friday last on a 3-8 to 0-2 in the Junior A League final. Well done to Kate Kelly & Katrina Parrock who played on the county team that defeated Tipperary on Saturday last. They now take on Cork on Saturday next, June 30.

The U16 team will play their first League championship game this evening (Wednesday) away to Castletown. The U14 team received a walk over from Monageer on Saturday last and will now take on the winners of the Buffers Alley versus Rapparees match this coming Saturday. Venue to be decided.

The U12 team's next game is on Wednesday, July 4 away to Castletown A. The U10 team will meet Rosslare in their second mini league game this evening, Wednesday at 6.30pm in Hollymount. The U8 girls have been invited to St Martins for a friendly game on Monday, July 2 at 7 p,m.

Thank you to all who supported the Camogie draw. The senior team are at home to St. Martins on Tuesday, July 3 at 7.20 in the WFC Premier championship. Well done to the junior team who won the A League title for the first time since 1986 when they defeated the Rapparees 3-8 to 0-2 in Farmleigh on Friday last.

The Louis Kerr Perpetual Cup was presented to team captain Lisa Quill and the members of the team consisted of Mary Cullen, Caroline Curran, Sinead Kelly, Aine Barron, Catherine Doyle, Ciara Donohoe, Ciara Neville, Ceara O`Brien (1-0) Niamh Potter (1-0) Aine Lacey (0-1) Deirdre McMahon (0-3) Sandy Curran, (01) Nikki Scallan (1-0) Therese Sheil (0-2) and the subs introduced were Sarah Lacey for Scallan, Hazel O`Leary for Donohoe, Roisin Robin for McMahon, Chloe Thomas for Carr, Kirsty Hynds.

CURRACLOE SCHOOL

The junior and senior infants had a great day out at Blackwater Open Farm while the first to fourth classes headed off to Tintern Abbey and the Hook Head for their annual outing and the fifth and sixth classes travelled to Clara Lara. Many thanks to the parents who helped out with the tours.

John Kinsella from the Wildfowl Reserve visited the school recently and enthralled the fifth and sixth class pupils on Irish Mammals.

Congratulations to Lily Stoutt who took third prize in the Wexford County Council Biodiversity Artwork competition and who was presented with her prize on Thursday.

Over €600 was raised in the school recently for the Nicola Furlong fund and much appreciation to all who helped out so generously.

Thanks also to Mick Garry who gave a First Aid lecture to fifth and sixth class pupils recently.

Well done to all who helped out with the sports day and especially to the parents who gave their help.

TABLE QUIZ

Bridget Curran who is off to work in the Orphanages in Kenya would like to thank each and everyone who helped out with the table quiz in Furlong of Curracloe on Wednesday night of last week. €820 was raised on the night thanks to the generous sponsorship of Furlongs, Pump Palace, Enniscorthy; Be Yourself; Style Icon, Pa and Rose Donoghue; Cloneys; Mace Ardcavan; Flanagans; Gammy O`Connor Physio; Trish Redmond; Angie Griffith; Assumpta Cullen, Blackwater Open Farm; Frying Irishman.

Thanks also to DJ John who played a stormer, to Shelly Doyle and Trish Redmond who helped out with the correcting of the papers and scorekeeping. Team winners Angie Griffith and Pat Furlongs donated their winnings back to the fund. Overall €6000 was raised for the orphanages and this money will be well spent over in Africa.

FOREVER FIT

MODEL COUNTY DRAW

The final and 3rd Shelmalier GAA Clubs Model County draw takes place tonight ( Wednesday) and the club wishes every success to all the supporter of the draw. The club had three successful winners in the previous draw in May with Mag and Andy O'Brien, Mullinagore winning an iPad or €600, Jackie Mythen Kilcorral winning €200 and Bobby Delaney Mullinagore winning €200. The club would also like to sincerely thank all contributors to the three draws and the money raised will assist with the continued development at Hollymount.

LET'S GET PAINTING

There has been a very positive response to the request from the Shelmalier GAA Club to its members, parents and supporters to assist with the painting and decorating of the club complex in Hollymount. Large areas of the upper floor are now completed. However there is still a lot more work to be completed and they are appealing for help and support. Drop over to Hollymount on either Tuesday or Wednesday nights from 7 - 9 p.m

DEVELOPMENT LOTTO

There was no winner of the Shelmalier Lotto last week and the numbers drawn were 3, 11, 26, 29. There was one match 3 winner with Brian O Shaughnessy winning €200. This week's lotto prize stands at €7,000 and your support would be greatly appreciated by the club.

GAA ACTION

The recent good form of the Shelmalier Junior B footballers continued in Hollymount on Friday night last when they overcome Kilmore by 4-11 to 1-7. The Shels were always in control with John and Eoghan Nolan in defence, Adam Whitmore, Graham Staples and James Shiggins in midfield and Darren Shiggins, Barry Redmond and Bobby Delaney in attact showing the way to victory for the team. The Shelmalier juvenile footballers also played on Friday night last against Glynn/Barntown and showed excellent skill and determination throughout but Glynn/Barntown pulled away in the closing stages.

SPONSORED WALK

Castlebridge Weigh Lighter Nutrition and Weight Loss class wish to invite the parish to join in with family and friends on Sunday, July 1 for a fun filled 10K walk around the Raven Wood loop in Curracloe. All proceeds in aid of the Hope Foundation in Enniscorthy. The walk will begin at 11.30 a.m. at the entrance to the wood and following same the group will enjoy a leisurely summer picnic at 1.30 p.m. Sponsorship cards are available at the weekly classes in Castlebridge community centre or by contacting Frances on 051-560709.
