OVER THE WATER
The annual Mass for the Castlebridge Show will be celebrated in the community centre on Friday, August 10 at 7 p.m with Fr. Walter Forde as the celebrant. Past members of the show and the local emigrants will be remembered at the mass. Music will be provided by the Castlebridge Gospel Choir. All are welcome to attend.
72ND CASTLEBRIDGE SHOW
This year's annual show in Castlebridge will take place on Sunday, August 12. Schedules are available from the local shops or from committee members. It promises to be very exciting with many new attractions, including a pet's corner, spinning, the mummers and story telling. Please support the show by entering some produce or by just attending on the day to catch up with friends and acquaintances.

The Over the Water Vintage club together with Freddies of Screen are holding a barbeque in Freddies pub on Friday,July 27 at 7 p.m. All proceeds in aid of the Nicola Furlong fund. Tickets at €5 each are available from the Vintage club members and also at Freddies. Your support for this worthy cause will be appreciated.
The Bridge Drama Society are hosting an acting and directing workshop in the community centre, Castlebridge on Friday, August 31 from 7-9.30 p.m. and on Saturday, September 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The tutor is Anne Mekitarian. St. Ibars/Shelmaliers adult teams experienced mixed fortunes in championship action last week. In the Nicky Rackard park on Tuesday the seniors went down to Rathnure by 4-15 to 2-8. The girls will take on Oulart/The Ballagh in the championship on Tuesday, July 31 at 7.30 p.m in Hollymount. There was a far better outcome in Belefield on Wednesday last when the juniors recorded their third win of the year over the Rapparees on a 2-11 to 0-7 scoreline.
The girls are away to St James' on Monday, July 30 in the championship. Best of luck to the U16 team who will meet Monageer on Thursday,July 26 at 7.30 p.m in Hollymount. Best of luck to the U12 team who will meet Craanford on Wednesday,July 25 at 7 p.m in Hollymount. Well done to the U10 team who beat Kilmore on Saturday last. A great competitive game was played by both teams. They will meet St Anne's, Rathangan on Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m in Hollymount.

The Shels senior hurlers beat Buffers Alley 1-16 to 2-9 in the all-county hurling league this week. An early penalty and a late goal attempt were brilliantly saved by Brian Murphy, a personal tally of 1-9 (18F) from Conor Byrne together with a brilliant all round team performance. Captain Chris McGrath led by example with Eoin Doyle, Benny Barron, Clive Lawler-Ryan, Ciaran O'Shaughnessy & Stephen Banville to the fore.
The Shelmaliers third football team qualify for the district semi-final beating Sarsfields on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-15. The semi final takes place on Sunday morning, July 29.
The Shels juvenile boys were in action against Crossabeg/ Ballymurn. The game was close all the way through with the Shels boys holding out for a 3 point win. On the night all the team gave it their all, and thats all anyone can ask for. Their next match is against Rathnure in two weeks time.
The senior footballers meet the Sarsfields in Wexford park on Friday next, July 27 at 6.30 p.m. with referee Syl Doyle. The junior footballers meet St. Johns on Sunday next, July 29 in Killurin at 2 p.m. with referee Thomas Kavanagh. All reports in full on www.shelmaliers.ie
The Shelmalier GAA club had no winner of their jackpot draw on July 16. The numbers drawn were 6, 14, 17 & 21. There were 2 match 3 winners, Tommy Doyle and Sharon Kelly. All proceeds this week in aid of the Nicola Furlong fund. The jackpot stands at €7,800.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
The Castlebridge/Crossabeg Community Games Area will hold a church gate collection in Screen and Curracloe on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29. Due to difficulties the previous collection had to be cancelled. Your generous support would be appreciated as the Area need to fund raise to send a girls Futsal team to the national finals as well as two young athletes.
