WORKSHOP IN BALLYVALOO

A Workshop on Aifreann Mhuire na nGael will take place in Ballyvaloo centre on Wednesday, November 15. Please note change of date. Fr. Liam Lawton has written a new Irish Mass setting for the revised Missal. Written for soloists and choir, it is also very suitable for Irish instruments. Participants will receive a book and CD of the mass. The workshop takes place from 7.30- 9.30 and costs ?15. GAA ACTION

Hard luck to the Shels senior hurlers who bowed out of this years championship after a defeat by reigning champions Oulart/The Ballagh in the county semi final. The final score was 1-19 to 2-11. This, on the back of a great league win, sees the team set down a strong marker for 2013.

There was an incredible comeback by the Shels Minor footballers who were five points down with three minutes to go in the county semi final against St. Martins in Patricks park on Sunday. Colin Clery fired in two goals to see the Shels win by 4-3 to 2-8. The county final takes place on October 7. Reports on www.shelmaliers.ie

STRICTLY COME DANCING

The Shelmalier GAA clubs `Strictly come dancing` competition take place in Hotel Curracloe on Friday, October 5 at 8.30 p.m. Tickets at €10 each are now on sale in the parish and from any club members. Judges include Liam Spratt, George Lawlor and Yvonne Busher.

As this will be one of the club's major fundraisers of the year, members, players, parents and supporters are asked to give their support and, also have an enjoyable night out. Dancing till late to "Shindigs". The winners will be the pair of dancers who obtain the highest votes.

You can cast your vote by one of the following three ways. Subscribe to the special voting cards which are now in circulation, where every €2 subscribed will give you one vote or every €5 subscribed will give you 3 votes towards your chosen dancing group. Your €10 ticket on the night will allow you to cast an additional 10 votes on the night and you can also cast additional votes on the night at a cost of €1 each.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS AGM

The Parents & Guardians Association of Curracloe national school held their annual general meeting on Wednesday, September 19 and elected the following committee for the new school year:- Mick Garry (Chairperson), Margaret Murphy (Secretary), Aileen Ormonde (Treasurer), Theresa Canning, Ann Doyle, Pascal Harte, Robert McCormack, Edel Moran, Caroline Harding Kenny, Sam Quinlan, Maureen Kinsella, Alan Monahan (commitee members)

VINTAGE ROAD RUN

The Over the Water Vintage club are holding their October Vintage Road Run on Sunday, Octobder 14 starting from Ballymurn Village at 1 p.m. Proceeds in aid of Ballymurn church restoration fund. Why not join in the fun and enjoyment of the occasion and support a worthy cause at the same time.

SOCCER NEWS

Bridge Rovers Under 9's played at home against Wexford Celtic but were defeated 4-1 with their only goal coming from Jack Redmond. The Under 11's had a better game winning against Ross Celtic 3-1 with goals coming from Wiktor Glanzky and Luke Donovan bagging 2. The Under 13's ran away with the game scoring 7 goals against Enniscorthy Town.

CAMOGIE

Pride of place for the Shels/St. Ibars camogie club this week goes to the under U14 team who, despite a fantastic game were unfortunately defeated by Craanford/Monaseed 2-3 to 0-6 in the U14 Roinn 1 League/championship final on Saturday last. Hard luck girls. Following the match the girls enjoyed refreshments in Hotel Curracloe.

Congratulations to Mrs Eileen Furlong, Roadhouse, Curracloe winner of the `guess the score` competition. Eileen won a weekend away for two in any of the Moran Hotels including Bed & Breakfast and evening meal. Thank you to all who supported.

Ten seniors travelled to Silverpark for the thirty ninth annual Kilmacud sevens on Saturday, September 15. The best result was in the first game when Na Fianna of Dublin were beaten by 9-3 to nil, with Michelle Harding selected by the hosts as player of the match.

Support would be appreciated for the senior county championship final against Oulart/The Ballagh taking place in Bellefield on Saturday next, September 29 at 4 p.m.

Oulart/The Ballagh hosted a blitz on Sunday last for all girls eligible to play U14 in 2013. The Ibar girls defeated Castletown 5-0 to 1-0 in their first game, and defeated Oulart/The Ballagh in their second game on a 3-3 to 0-0 scoreline and in their final game they were victorious over Buffers Alley 1-3 to 1-0. CHARITY WALK

A walk on behalf of the Irish Heart Foundation will take place at Culleton's Gap, Curracloe on Sunday September 30. It is being organised by the Shelmalier walking club and all interested to meet at 10 a.m.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of Castlebridge Community Development committee will be held in the community centre, Castlebridge on Tuesday, October 9 at 8 p.m. All are most welcome.

CLASSES IN HALL

Tae Kwon Do classes are held in Castlebridge hall every Monday and Thursday from 4.30 -5.30 p.m. and on Saturday from 1.30-2.30 p.m. Little Ninja classes and Boxercise classes are held on Saturday mornings. FITNESS CLASSES

SCREEN SCHOOL NEWS

A big welcome from Screen national school to the new Junior Infants class and their families and to the new member of staff, Ms Whelan. Welcome also to Ms Murphy and Ms. O'Grady who will be teaching in the school over the coming months.

Just a reminder that the Parents' Association have organised drama classes with Olivia Doran which will begin again in Screen hall on Thursdays. For further details contact Olivia on 085-1379527. All are most welcome.

Thanks to Declan Kielthy, Ms Gately and Ms Dempsey who are coaching football for pupils from first to sixth class after school each Wednesday.

Parents are reminded to collect children at 3.50 p.m sharp.

Chess club will commence next Monday after school. All interested children should have returned their permission slip to the school office. Parents to collect children at 3.45 p.m sharp.
