OYLEGATE

YOUTH CLUB

Members of Oylegate youth club will travel to the all Ireland finals on Saturday June 30th in University of Limerick. Best of luck to the members who will take part in the under 15girls soccer, under 15draughts, and the under 15 and under 18 chess players. We hope that you will bring home the medals.

Shielbaggan Trip: 21 members of the youth club will travel to Shielbaggan outdoor Education centre on Saturday July 7th. We hope that you all have a really enjoyable day

OYLEGATE TRADFEST

Oylegate tradfest will be take place from June 29th to July 1st. There will be ceilis and workshops, sessions galore, and entertainment for all. A weekend not to be missed. Check out our facebook page.

Workshops: Saturday June 30th. Fiddle Micheal Grogan (Clare), Concertina Threasa Shalloe (Wexford), Flute Tommy Keating (Waterford), Whistle Fiona Quirke (Wexford) and Set Dancing Paddy Wade (Wexford). Beginners Classes 10-11 and Advanced 11-1. Set dancing class starts at 10am Cost €5 & free entry into tutors concert. For bookings and more information contact 087-2546278.

TRADITIONAL MASS

On Saturday night of the Trad fest weekend there will be a traditional mass with Irish Music, song and dance in Oylegate Church at 6.30pm all are welcome to come along an enjoy this wonderful occasion.

COFFEE MORNING

A coffee morning will be held on Thursday June 28th at 11.00am in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate in aid of the community centre.

G.A.A. LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot of €8,800 held in The Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday June 20th. The next draw will be held on Wednesday July 4th in Mernagh's Lounge, Oylegate for a jackpot of €9,000. Tickets cost just €2 each available from club members.

RACKARD LEAGUE

Hard luck is extended to the Rackard league team who lost in the county final to Rathangan on Tuesday June 19th in St Patrick's Park Enniscorthy.

ICA NEWS

The Annual ICA Wexford Federation 'Special Occasion' competition, sponsored by Wexford Creamery, was hosted by Bree ICA guild on the 7th June in the Community centre. Twenty guilds competed for individual category awards and the overall winner's trophy. The theme of this year's event was "Recycling". This involved competitions in baking, flower arranging, photography, sewing and crafts.

The competition attracted local and regional interest and the Bree guild catered for a full capacity crowd. While the judging was taking place, entertainment was provided by the pupils of Colaiste Brid, Enniscorthy and some local entertainers. The judges reported great difficulty in reaching a final decision due to high standards of work in each category.

Winners on the night included Maudlins Bree, Oylegate, Davidstown for individual awards. The overall winner of the "Gorey Trophy" was Oylegate, with Adamstown guild a very close second, followed by Bree guild.

Also on the night the ICA's Bishop Cup, the Mether Trophy and the W.I. picture was awarded to Oylegate, the Barton thropy was awarded to Taghmon guild and the Jenny Grace cup was awarded to Bunclody guild for competitions won during the year Wexford federation ICA would like to thank Bree guild for hosting the occasion, to Wexford Creamery for their continuing support and everyone who helped out on the night.

ZUMBA CLASSES

LADIES FOOTBALL

Oylegate Glenbrien ladies gaelic football club under 10's played the volunteers on Monday June 18th and had a ball, and thanks to the Volunteers. The under 10's had a match on the 25th in Blackwater and Thursday June 28th in Clonard. Under 14's have practise match on Saturday June 30th against the Volunteers. Under 12's match against the Shamrocks has to be rearranged.

Gaelic for mammies have a match against Bannow/Ballymitty on July 1st and our club is growing all the time. If anyone has a field that we can use to play matches in, we will pay rent and maintain.
