There was no winner of the Lotto draw held on Wednesday November 24th in Mernagh's of Oylegate for a Jackpot of €4,400. The four lucky dip winners were Hannah Kehoe, Hilary Curran, Ned Maher junior, and Brendan Hayden.

The next draw will be held on Wednesday evening December 22nd in Mernagh's of Oylegate for a jackpot of €4,800. Tickets cost just €2 each every fortnight, and can be purchased from the G.A.A. Club. All support would be greatly appreciated. Ladies Football:


The Crossabeg/Ballymurn Ladies Football AGM was held on Sunday 22nd November and there was a good attendance.

Calenders are on sale for €5 and would make an ideal Christmas gift for family and friends at home and abroad.

Calenders will be on sale after masses over the coming weekends or contact Marie Quirke on 053-9138453 / 0872546278 all funds raised go towards the old school restoration fund.


The above group meet every Wednesday morning in Oylegate National School from 9.20am to 10.45am for children from birth to five years old. There is no charge and parents/guardians supervise their own children. New members are welcome.


Children of Oylegate National School are preparing for the Christmas Craft Fair that will be held on Thursday December 16th at 9.30am in the school hall. The children will be selling Christmas cards, Christmas decorations, buns, cakes and crafts. Everyone is welcome to come along and support them on the day.


Glenbrien hope to have a newsletter out in the next week and if any club, individual or organisation would like to put news items in the newsletter could they please forward them to


Why not send a more meaningful card this year! There are Christmas cards "from Oylegate", depicting local parish scenes on sale in local businesses in the village.

Packs are priced very reasonably and all funds go towards building the local Community Centre which is currently under construction.


There will be a carol service held in Oylegate Church on Friday night December 17th at 8pm. Everybody is welcome and a very pleasant nights is guaranteed to be had by all.

Several performers including the School Hallelujah Choir, the Local church choir and members of the Folk group, Ms. Alison Cullen, and Stephen Murphy will appear on the night.The night is intended to be approximately an hour and a half long and to cater for all age groups and musical tastes.

Admission: Adults pay €5 and primary school children are free. Any funds raised will go towards paying off the parish Debt.
