Particle physics talk

WEXFORD COUNTY COUNCIL'S Public Library Service is hosting a lecture and discussion on particle physics entitled, ' The God Particle and the Particle Zoo' with Brendan Wallace, consultant engineer, next week.

The talk takes place at Wexford Town Library on Wednesday, September 28, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The event is free and all are welcome. Booking is essential as places are limited. Call 053 9121637.

What is all the excitement about the Higgs Boson, a.k.a. the ' God Particle', at the Large Hadron Collider at European Organisation for Nuclear Research ( CERN)? Recent media reports have said that scientists at CERN may be on the brink of proving the existence of the elusive Higgs Boson, a subatomic particle also known as the 'God Particle'. How are these new particles predicted and found?
