Priest celebrates 50 years

Fr. Sean Cullen will be home in his native parish in July of this year and we are arranging a little celebration for him, as this is the year of his Golden Jubilee of his ordination

. On Friday July 27 mass will be celebrated in Ballymitty Church at 7.30 p.m., and there will be refreshments afterwards in Ballymitty Hall and everyone is most welcome so please come along and join Fr. Sean on this very special occasion.

HANDBALL NEWS

Ballymitty Handball Club was well rewarded this year by the Leinster Council and Wexford County Handball Board in appreciation for the upgrading of the ball alley by fixing several Leinster and County Championship games for the alley, which included the county Senior Singles Final.

Ballymitty Ball Alley is now rated the finest alley in the county and the committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who gave their time freely and for all their hard work also a huge thank you to the people who donated materials. A special word of thanks to Toddy Byrne for sponsoring the club with a new set of jerseys.

We would like to see more boys and girls form both Ballymitty & Carrig schools, joining the handball club to guarantee the future of handball in the parish, Coaching every Saturday morning from 10 to 1 and we are organising training during the week also, for more information contact 087-6120903.

SKITTLES

The finals of the South East skittle tournaments will take place this Wednesday night July 25 in the Ball alley in Carrig starting at 7 p.m. with Rathangan V St Leonard's in the A final and Doyle's V Talaugh in the B Final, presentation of prizes takes places in Doyle's Pub with music by Johnny G Whizz and refreshments will be served.

CORACH RAMBLERS

Corach Ramblers Soccer Club will hold their A.G.M. this Friday July 27 at 8 p.m. in the club house, everyone is welcome especially all adult players. Adult teams are back training Tuesday and Friday nights at 6.45 each evening.

Cullenstown Community Group presents a cabaret in The Atlantic Bar, Cullenstown on Saturday August 11 at 9 p.m. all are welcome so come along for a great nights entertainment.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Margaret Mernagh and Family, Danescastle on the death of Margaret's mother Nellie Fitzpatrick last week. Nellie's funeral was in Buttervent Co. Cork, may she rest in peace.

Sympathy is also extended to Brian Lacey and the Lacey Family, Bannow Moor on the death of his wife Karen, in England aged just 41, may she rest in peace.

PHIL MURPHY WEEKEND

Opening of the 21st Phil Murphy weekend and launch of Our Parish Journal is on Thursday night in the community centre. Memorabilia of the last 20 festivals will be on display. Fr. Sean Cullen will launch the journal and Mick Wallace T.D. will open the festival. On Friday night Dolores Keane will perform in the community centre at 8 p.m. tickets are €20 and are available at Bannow P.O., Colfer's and Whites Electrics, Saturday night concert with Jackie Daly, Matt Cranitch and Paul De Grae, Donal Clancy and many more in the Marquee. Street session in the village in the afternoon and ceile in the community centre at 3 p.m. concert in the marquee with 'Folk the Recession' from 8 p.m.

12K TRIP TO CULLENSTOWN

12K road race is this Friday evening with 7 p.m. start, Run walk or stroll along and enjoy the craic.

SWIM WEEK

CAMOGIE

The U-10 camogie team kept up their winning ways with two more league wins in the last tow weeks. On Saturday July 14 they beat St. Anne's Rathangan on a score line of 4 goals to no score in what was their toughest game of the years so far.

That's four league wins from four games, our final game is on next Saturday morning at home to Rosslare B, well done girl's great stuff.

Our U-12's were beaten by Taghmon and got a walk over from Glynn-Barntown B. U-16's In the league/Championship U16's were beaten by Oulart. We play Glynn/Barntown this Thursday July 26 at 7pm in Grantstown.

The club would like to thank all the people who helped with our fundraiser, which was held at Pettit's St. Aidan's Wexford. It is much appreciated the raffle winners as follows: Fiona Moran€100 Voucher, Fiona Moran Bottle of whiskey, Luke O'Sullivan tin of Biscuits.
