The goodwill and kindness of Wexford people was highlighted last week as the proceeds from a charity gig were presented to charities which focus on helping those struggling with mental health issues.

Following the You Matter! fundraising event, which was organised by local woman Ingrid Butler, a total of €2,036 was raised for It's Good 2 Talk and Marine Watch.

And, after a successful night, which saw local band Point Blank perform for free at Sinnott's Bar, Ingrid was delighted to present more than €1,000 to each of her chosen charities.

'I was over the moon to present over €1,000 each to both organisations, we all appreciate that these services are there if and when we need them but money is necessary for these services to function at their best,' she said. 'The outcome was worth all the effort I put in. In the future I will definitely get involved with fundraising for both again.'

Thanking all those who helped organise the event and those who contributed generously on the night, Ingrid said the amount raised was testament to the people of the town.

'We are all money conscious but on the night that went out the window and people dug deep in their pockets, it shows our town is more than aware of the mental health issue in Wexford and they're willing to help,' Ingrid said.
