Pyjama party a special occasion
TWO new guide leaders raised €220 for Wexford Special Olympics, the cash coming from a 70-strong pyjama party involving cygnets, brigins and guides.
Rebecca Slevin and Caroline Devereux, who have been with the Piercestown guides for the past two years, handed over the money at a presentation at the Piercestown Scout and Guide Hall last week.
The leaders' training course undertaken by the two included hiking, programme planning and learning how to help children solve problems.
'It's really good and we're giving back to the community,' said Rebecca, who works at Taoglas.
She said the Special Olympics had been chosed as the beneficiary was because there were several special needs guides who come down to Piecestown every week. 'I'd like to thank everyone who helped us with donations and we want to wish all the cygnets, guides, rangers and leaders a happy and safe summer,' said Rebecca.
