There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €3,000.The numbers drawn were 2,16,20,25. Congratulations to the two match 3 winners who each received €150. The winners were the Bates Family and Joseph Sinnott. This week's jackpot stands at €3,300 and the next draw will take place on Tuesday 16th October. Good Luck to all.


Rathangan Parish has produced some inspiring people through the years and in thebook 'Rathangan, A Parish & Its People' we got the privilege to delve into the lives of some of these people.

Radio producer/presenter Marian Egan wrote a touching article on her mother Babs Egan, a well known singer, conductor and also a writer for the Farmers Journal. William Considine pays tribute to Richard Lambert, one of the finest writers and patriots this Parish has seen and Liam Gaul's "The Rathangan Connection" piece gives a glimpse at P.J McCall's life and his connections with the Parish.

The book is available in Rathangan Hall, Goldsmiths Shop Duncormick, Geelans shop Waddingtown, Bridgetown P.O. and S.O.S Wexford.


The Parent & Toddler Group has started back in Rathangan Hall and is on every Wednesday at 10.30am. New members always welcome. €2.50 per family


At the meeting of the Pastoral Council it was decided to ballot people regarding the time of the Patron Mass on the 15th August in order to facilitate working people. It was proposed the time of the Mass should be moved to 6:30pm. A ballot paper will go around with the envelopes at the end of the year. All ballot papers will be sealed with parish seal.


There will be a table quiz in The Temple Bar, Rathangan on Friday 2nd November at 9pm in aid of Rathangan Variety Group. Table of four €20. Raffle on the night. Your support would be greatly appreciated.


There will be a public meeting to discuss developments in the plans for Cleariestown Hall on Monday 22nd October at 8pm in the Hall. Developments include the building of a new playschool and applications for grants for other building works. Representatives from Parish Groups are encouraged to attend as well as members of the Community.


Best of luck to three acts from Danescastle Music Group who will appear on RTE2 Elev8 on Friday 19th October at 4pm. They need your support so please vote from 19th-25th October on

The acts are trad group, Rockin Ceol with Celine Furlong-Hunt, Cian O'Grady, Eoin Dunne Codd, Conall Clancy, Cora and Callie Bennett, Kiera Reville and Naoise Carthy. Act No 2 Singer, Kayleigh Moran. Act No 3 Harpist, Caoimhe Moran.


Tickets for the "Last Man Standing" Competition are available until 19th October. Tickets €10, price money €300. First weekend of competition 20th/21st October.

St. Annes National School Parents Association will hold their AGM on Wednesday 17th October at 7pm in the GP room in the school. All parents/guardians are asked to come along and support the Parents Association. When your child starts school you automatically are a member of the PA.

The committee would like to especially extend an invitation to the parents/ guardians of all the new pupils. Child supervision can be arranged in the school during the meeting on request. Please contact parents association on 087 9915345 prior to meeting.


Rathangan Variety Group would like to wish two of their members, Siobhan and Shauna Murphy, the very best of luck as they take to the stage with the Oyster Lane Theatre Group's production of "Annie" which takes place in the Dun Mhuire Theatre during the Opera festival.

This is a great opportunity for them both and we hope they are enjoying the experience of it all. However, following "Annie", there is no rest for them as they will be straight into rehearsals for our own production of "The Sound of Music" which takes place in Rathangan Hall in February2013. Congratulations to Jack Moore who came third in the County Cross- Country Championships in Ferns recently, we would like to wish Jack the best of luck representing Wexford in the Leinster finals


The Intermediate ladies Leinster championship bid came to a halt against St. Laurences from Kildare last Sunday in the semi final. The final score was 7-12 to 1-5. Congratulations on a fine year and promotion to the senior ranks in 2013. Earlier on Sunday the U-14 hurlers had an impressive game over Taghmon in the county semi final winning 3-9 to 0-3. The county final may be this weekend – please see fixtures for details.

The U-21 footballers play the Shels this Saturday in the county semi final. The game is fixed for Hollymount at 2pm. The Senior footballers are scheduled to play the Longford champions in Longford on Sunday 28th October. A supporters bus will be going – for details please contact Noel O'Keeffe on 087 2829310.
