Rising Voices sings first note
Around Wexford Town
The team behind community choir, Rising Voices, had their first get-together at Westgate Heritage Centre, welcoming almost 20 participants.
The choir is aimed at being a social outlet of inclusiveness and support, through music, for those affected by suicide.
People are invited to sing, have fun, and possibly perform, as well as offering an outlet for people to open up about their experiences, in an informal way, if and when they feel ready.
Rising Voices is the brainchild of Mark Ennis in honour of his brother Barry, who sadly passed away in January of last year.
Fortnightly meetings are held as part of the event, facilitated by vocal coach and singer Aideen Ni Riada; musician and singer Mick D'Arcy; and counsellor, career and life coach, and founder of Community Minds, Leonard Kelly.
Local musicians are also being lined up to join in on some of the evenings to provide extra inspiration and encouragement.
The next session will be held on October 9 - venue to be confirmed.
All are welcome and no commitment is necessary.
