ROSSLARE HARBOUR

ST. PAUL'S AC

Day 2 of the County Championships proved very successful for the club. The track events started with the 100m heats. Running into a strong wind athletes ran well with several progressing to semifinals and finals. 200m finals, distance races and relays then followed. Meanwhile athletes also competed in field events: shotputt, ball throw and long jump. Well done to all:

Results:U9: Lauri Twomey 100m semifinalist; U10: Maeve Hayes 8th 100m final; Chloe Roche Brennan: 4th 100m final, 3rd long jump; Will Twomey: 8th 100m final, 3rd U11 relay; U11: Lucas Pierce: 3rd ball throw, 3rd relay; Daniel Halligan: 3rd shot putt, 3rd relay; Tommy Wickham: 2nd long jump, won 100m heat, 3rd relay, Niamh Cloney: 5th 100m final, 2nd long jump; U14 Tara Connick: 4th 200m, 3rd 1500m; U18: Shauna NicAogain: 1st 100m, 1500m and U19 relay; Emma Mernagh: 3rd 100m and 1st U19 relay; Elena Owens: U19 relay gold; U19 Emma Owens: 2nd 100m and 1st relay; Simon Mernagh: 1st high jump and 100m; Novice: Jenny Higgins 1st 1500m. A particular well done to the U11 boys and U19 girls relays.

On Friday May 6th senior secondary school athletes travelled to Kilkenny to compete in the South Leinsters. Athletes competed in wet and windy conditions and have qualified for Leinster competition. Simon Mernagh won the triple jump and was third in high jump, Kieran Murphy won the hammer and was third discus, and Emma Owens came away with two silvers: hammer and discus.

Thanks to all coaches, parents and supporters over the past busy few weeks. Athletes now continue training on Monday (Rosslare Strand), Wednesday (Kilrane) and Friday (secondary school and senior athletes only) at 6pm for further competition. The County Championships will conclude on Saturday May 14th with discus, hammer and triple jump. Primary school sports will take place in Bree on May 18th.

KILRANE TIDY TOWNS

Just 6 weeks to go to Adjudication. For those of us who have boundary walls or hedgerows facing on to roads, would you please give them a little extra attention for the next few weeks.

CENTRE FUNDRAISER

The Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour Community Centre committee are looking for your master chief ideas. We are hoping to compile a cook book full of tasty ideas, to include your name, recipe, and instructions on how to prepare/cook the dish.

There is a box in the community centre to submit your recipes, which is open from 9.30am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday, or for further details please contact 089 4542494. You can also e-mail your recipes to kilranerosslareharbourcommunitycentre@hotmail.com.

WEXFORD TUSKAR SCOUTS

The 6th Wexford Tuskar Scouts is involved in providing a wonderful scouting service to the youth of the general locality. As a community that has many boating and sea faring traditions, members are welcome at any time. The organisation is critically in need of male and female leaders for the scout and cub sections and would welcome anyone who might be interested in helping out on Tuesday evenings at Kilrane. ST. MARY'S GAA LOTTO

Last weeks winning no's were 2-11-2028 bonus no. 33, no jackpot winner match 3 winners were Deirdre Kearns, Niall Fortune and Tara Waldron. Next draw is on Monday 16th May jackpot is €20,000.

CAMOGIE

Training for Under 14's is every Monday and Wednesday - 6:15 - 7:15, St. Mary's Pitch. Practice match between U14's & U12's last week was excellent. Showed great skill & determination. Re-match to be held this coming week.

Training for Under 12's is every Mon & Wed - 6:15 - 7:15, St. Mary's pitch. Training for Under 10's is every Monday and Wednesday - 6:15 - 7.00. St. Mary's Pitch. We had another practice match last wed evening in Kilmore, both teams were excellent. Many goals were scored by all players, from all positions on the field. they showed great team work & skill and it was all great fun. Next Go games Blitz is on Saturday 21st may, Kilmore.

Under 8's & Beginners News: Training times are every mon & wed evenings 6:15pm to 7:00 pm.
