The organizing committee of the Community Weekend are to be congratulated on what can only be described as a fantastic success. All events were very well supported and the weather stayed dry which allowed the parade, the crab fishing, the blessing of the boats and the outdoor market all to go ahead. Hundreds of families visited the area over the weekend and all were delighted with the variety and standard of exhibitions, competitions and special festival activities.
Well done to everybody and especially to Bernie Mullen who really did a great job. The community really entered into the spirit of things and the Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour Community Weekend is now firmly established and will be something to look forward to for years to come.

The St. Paul's AC 5 mile road race being run in conjunction with Rosslare Harbout Environmental Group will take place on September 1st at 5pm. Online entry is open to all runners and walkers at http:// www. runireland. com/ events/ stpauls-athletic-club-5-mile-road-race for €12.
For those of you who want to run the event but aren't quite sure where to start we will be including training advice in our weekly notes in the run up to the event. As an introduction this week try to get out 3 times for between 30 and 45 minutes for a run-walk session - easy run for a minute or two then walk and repeat for the duration. Remember to take it easy for the first week and we'll build gradually to prevent injury and be ready for September. Watch out for more tips next week.
In other news Emma Owens gained valuable experience at the National Seniors finishing 7th in a strong field. This competition will really stand to her as she progresses on from the Junior ranks next year. Good luck to Tara Connick competing at the National Juvenile Championships this weekend. Many thanks to everyone who supported our BBQ and sponsored run. Younger athletes have now finished training for the summer. Training continues for secondary school and senior athletes on Wednesdays and Fridays (Rosslare Strand) at 6pm.
