ROSSLARE HARBOUR

ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP

The KRH environmental group would like to congratulate the KRH Tops Group for organising the Community Event over the weekend of 13th, 14th and 15th July. The event was a great success and enjoyed by all. The raffle held by the Art group raised €500 for the environmental group & we would like to thank all our sponsors for their support.

ART COMPETITION WINNERS

The Art competition organised by The Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour Community Weekend Committee was a huge success and had over 90 entries.

The winners were: Age 11 to 12 1st Carla Howlin, 2nd Eimear McLoughlin, Joint 3rd Caoimhe Van der Bliake and James Newport Age 9 to 10 1st Hayden Walsh, 2nd Caitlyn Morrissey, 3rd Sean Doyle. Age 8 to 9 1st Chloe Morrissey, 2nd Abi Sinnott, 3rd Ciara Power Age 7 and Under 1st Sarah Rooney, 2nd Ciara Cloney, Joint 3rd Ciara Cosgrave and Tegan Fortune.

The children were presented with their prizes on Sunday evening in Culletons of Kilrane and the Monster Raffle was won by Kathleen Fortune, Tenacre, Kilrane.

FUN CYCLE

There will be a fun cycle in aid of the Rosslare harbour RNLI at 12 noon from the Potato Market Wexford to Rosslare Harbour on Sunday the 5th August. There will refreshments and family entertainment in Hotel Rosslarefrom 2pm. Anyone interested in sponsorship cards please contact any committee member.

SVP COLLECTION

Thank you to all who contributed to the recent St Vincent de Paul collections. Thanks to Fr Desmond and Des & Allen Murphy who facilitated the collectors at Church gates and Murphy's Supervalu. Your support is much appreciated. All monies collected goes to help those in need within the parish.

SEA ANGLING COMPETITION

Rosslare Harbour/ Kilrane Sea Angling Club will hold a fishing competition on Saturday 28th July starting at 9.30am. There will be prizes for Adults and Under 16s. Both boys and girls are welcome.

There will be a barbeque afterwards at 4pm when all boats return and everyone is welcome to come along. It is hoped to create a family affair so everyone is welcome whether participating or not.

We will have a small crab fishing competition around 3pm for the little ones so bring them along and enjoy. Prizes for kids will be presented in the lagoon around 5.30pm and adult prizes will be at the sponsors venue at 9.30pm in Railway Social Club.

There will be a sheet put in the Railway Social Club to put down names of participants next week and you can pay then or on the day. Adults €10.00, Under 16s Free. Barbeque is free to all. Looking foward to seeing you all there and to a nice day.

ST PAUL'S AC

Well done to Tara Connick who was 7th in the U15 discus at the National Juvenile Championships last weekend. Good luck to Emma, Shauna and Denise who compete with the County team in the second round of the National League on Sunday, July 22nd in an effort to qualify for the National finals in August.

The countdown to the Road Race on September 1st continues and our training plans start in earnest this week. There will be a warm-up and stretching demonstration in Kilrane school on Wednesday August 1st at 6.30pm for all interested. Come along to learn skills that will help get you to the start line injury free and ask questions. To judge the correct intensity this week you should be able to speak a few words to a sentence in training but not have a full conversation.

Walk-jog programme: Warm up with 10min brisk walk before each session and cool down for 5-10mins afterwards. Mon and Wednesday: 2 sets of 10min brisk walk, 5mins fast. Saturday 3 sets of 10min brisk walk, 5mins fast.

New runners: Warm up with 10 min brisk walk before each session and cool down for 5-10min afterwards. Monday: 5 sets of 5min fast walk, 1min run; Wednesday: 4 sets of 5min fast walk, 1 min run; Saturday: 6 sets of 5min fast walk, 1min run.

Runners working to improve: Warm up with 10min brisk walk/ slow jog before each session and cool down for 510mins. Monday 25mins; Wednesday 20mins; Saturday 30mins. Run at a pace where you can speak a few words but not have a full conversation.

ROSSLARE RANGERS FC

Rosslare Rangers are holding a Summer camp from 30th July to 3rd August. Price is €65 per child, with each child receiving a custom made jersey and a football. To book a place contact Gary at 0860265277 or log onto www.matchfitsoccer.ie.

We are holding a benefit night in aid of Nicola Furlong in Hotel Rosslare on Sunday 5th August, 9.00pm till late. Tickets are €5.00 and are available at the usual outlets and from committee members. Please support our benefit night. Our first, second and youths team have already began pre season training.

Schoolboys teams will begin training over the next few weeks. We will be contacting parents by text, and new members are more than welcome. Rosslare Rangers Gym is open from 9.00am to 9.00pm seven days per week.

New members are welcome. Membership can be taken on Tuesday and Thursday night between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Annual membership is €100.00

Holiday to Clare Inn, Co. Clare: All deposits must be paid in by Wednesday 25th July at the R.S.C. from 12 noon to 12.30pm. The hotel has to be informed of the numbers and rooms required. Some places are still available, non members are welcome to join

Members €310; non members €320, five nights accommodation from Sunday 2nd of September to 7th September. Final payments will be collected at our members meeting on Tuesday 7th August in the R.S.C.

New members are always welcome to join and to participate in the many activities we provide each month.
