Sculptor gives back to SVDP by donating angel for auction
THE WEXFORD branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is seen as an angel by people who find themselves in need.
Now, a sculptor who turned to the V.deP. when he was hard-up has created an angel which he is auctioning to raise funds for the charity.
Michael Neter, a native of Germany who has been living in Wexford for the past five years, spent 16 weeks working on the sculpture at his workshop in Bridgetown.
'I want to give it to the St. Vincent de Paul because they helped me when I was in difficulty,' said Michael.
The angel sculpture is now for sale with a reserve price of €500 - seventy-five per cent of the amount raised will go to the charity while the remainder will be used to cover the cost of Michael's materials.
'It would be ideal for a graveyard or a garden,' said Michael who sculpted the painted concrete angel using a knife and a trowel. He also works in other materials.
