Wexford Women's Refuge was the recipient of €10,000 as part of the Aviva Broker Community Fund, after local broker Sheridan Insurances nominated them for the fund.

The fund offers people the chance to get funding for an important cause in the community and Martha Sheridan, who chose the group as the company's nominee, thought it was the perfect opportunity to reward the refuge for their amazing work.

Wexford Women's Refuge was shortlisted as one of the final five community support services in the country.

They won a deserving €10,000 that will be used to help fund a second outreach worker who will continue to support women in the community and their battle with domestic abuse.

Martha Sheridan said: 'It was an emotional day; they absolutely deserve to win this funding and I am so delighted for them.'
