Our Parents' Council Newsletter will be issued this week to all pupils.

Well done to the St. Patricks' Day Committee who put on a great show and gave us a great local Family Day out.

We would like to wish all families a Happy Easter and also to thank those parents who helped out in so many ways during this term.


Members of Taghmon ICA will be selling daffodils around the village on Friday, March 26, at Quick Pic and outside EuroSpar (weather permitting). We look forward to your usual generous support.


Congratulations to Cora Banville who came 3rd in the regional final of the INTO/ESB Handwriting Competition.

Caroreigh Parents Council are holding a cake sale in the old school after mass on Easter Sunday. A free raffle will take place for an Easter Fruit Cake. Your attendance would be much appreciated.

Also bag packing took place in Tesco New Ross last Thursday & Friday. A very big thank you to the Parents & Teachers that contributed their time to make this a successful event.It was much appreciated.


The group extends the best of luck to the Novelty Act team when they contest the Leinster final on Sunday next, April 28th in Ballymore, Co. Westmeath.


Ladies, take note that training will be held on Wednesday night of this week at 8pm instead of Thursday and George and his management team encourage all players to attend. Your next match will be against Shels B with date to be finalised.


Irish Cap for Nicholas Murphy. Congragulations to Nicholas on making the Irish U15 Team. This is a fantastic achievement for the Taghmon Club. Well done to Noel Dunne on winning the U14 Spring Open. Declan Carroll/Jack Dunne were runners up in the Boys Doubles narrowly missing out on claiming the title by one point.


A.B.C. Club - Taghmon and A.B.C. Club-Caroreigh are now enrolling for September 2010. A.B.C. Club Playgroups are HSE registered and participate in the E.C.C.E Scheme (Early Childhood Care and Education).

The scheme entitles the child to free playgroup places their last year in playgroup before they begin primary school. For an application form you all welcome to call to A.B.C. Club -Taghmon between 10 am and 12.00pm Monday to Friday or contact me Laurena Kent at 087-1350823.


The children involved in community games this year are having great success and fun experiencing new events at area, county and Leinster level.

Table Quiz – We had four entered in this event , mentored by Helena Hore, Team 1 Stephen Stafford, Roisin Nolan, Daniel Furlong, (86 points) team 2 Amy Dee, Anthony Coady, Ian Carty, Adam Winters ( 83 points), team 3 Stephen O'Gorman, Darren Hayden, Eoghan McGee, Neil Kelly(82 points), team 4 Jack Dunne, Stephen O'Gorman, Clara-Mai Doyle, Stuart Murphy. All finished in the top 10 with team 1 finishing in six place a great achievement out of 44 teams.

Athletics – Well done to our athletic boys , Daniel Furlong, Stephen Stafford, Ian Carty, Luke Sinnott, and Padraig Hore who all qualified recently in the county qualifiers in the cross country event and who now travel to Athlone representing Wexford in the All Irelands

Solo Events – Daniel Furlong competed in the solo singing event and took gold awarding him the prize of flying the flag for Wexford in Athlone. Mentored by Jeannette Kelly, Clodagh Dempsey competed in the recitation solo event, and with great praise from the judges and this first time experience behind her I'm in no doubt Clodagh is already practicing for next year, well done Clodagh.

Dancing Events – The talented modern dancers consisting of Haylii Lattimore-Byrne, Emma Shannon, Ciara Murray, Amy Dee and Annie Stafford dancing to "FAME" earned themselves third place and they brought back the bronze medals. Well done to all the children and to Sandie Kennedy their mentor. Another set of talented dancers under the watchful of Sue Kelly and James Jordan competed in the contemporary section. The team of Shannon Byrne, Claire O'Gorman, Bronagh Murphy, Roisin Nolan, Jessica Doyle danced their way into the medals bringing home silver, a great achievement. All the dancers did themselves and mentors proud.

Badminton – Well done to the team of James and Declan Carroll, Darren Carty, M.J and Noel Dunne, Clodagh Dunne, Emma Shannon, Sarah Lacey, Kasey McGrath, Leanne Murray who played Carlow recently in the first round of Leinsters. The team continued their recent success and won 5 games to 0, thanks to John Cogley for travelling with the team. They will travel to Carlow on Sunday 28th March for the Leinster finals, we wish them the best of luck.

Art – Our area held the art competition recently and the following winners were: under 8 Micheal Foley, Lorcan Butler, Ben Codd , girls: Aishling Kelly,
