TAGHMON SOCCER NOTES

U10 Wexford Schoolboys league: The U10 1st team played their first game of the season at home against Forth Celtic on Saturday last. The game started brightly and after a great sweeping move mid way through the first half Aaron Handly slotted away the first goal of the game.

The second half saw Taghmon dominate from the whistle but failing to capitalise on all the possession they had with Eric Cahill and Conor mc Gee coming closest both striking the woodwork. But Forth Celtic kept pressurising and were awarded for their efforts after Taghmon failed to stop the move emanating from mid field and poor defending conceded the equaliser.

The game ran out a draw but the effort the lads put in was great most notably Adam Sinnott and Quentin kehoe.

Team: Padraig Hore, Adam Boylan, Martin Roche, James Walsh, Adam Sinnott, Conor McGee, Eric Cahill, Aaron Handly, Quentin Kehoe and Dylan Colfer

The U10 2nd team went down 3-2 to Forth Celtic after conceding 3 goals in the first half Taghmon were in for an uphill battle. But tactical changes made at half time saw Taghmon perform much better and were awarded for their efforts with two goals.

The game got very exciting towards the end but they failed to get the equaliser that was badly needed. After their second half display no doubt the lads will get better as the season continues. Notable performances by Ryan Redmond, Jack Murphy and John Banville.
