TAGHMON/ CAMROSS

LADIES FOOTBALL

Indoor training has got off to a successful start and will continue on next Friday night from 7pm to 8pm, please note change of time. Tickets are on sale for the Texas Hold'em which will be held in the GAA complex on Friday 28th January at 8.30pm.

DANCING AT CAMROSS

The February dance will be held on Friday 3rd February from 10pm to 12 midnight with music by Tony Bird and his band. We hope to see you there.

ST. MUNN'S PENNY BANK

Due to security reasons there is a change of venue for the Penny Bank. In future it will take place in the sacristy, before and after mass on Saturday nights. Entry will be by the side door of the church opposite the parochial house front door. Your co-operation would be appreciated.

ATHLETIC CLUB

The year has only just begun and thanks to 4 very courageous boys the club has 4 county medals already! Last week on a bitterly cold day in Lingstown, Joseph Hanlon, Sean O'Keeffe, Adam Sinnott and Padraig Hore came 2nd in the Wexford Creamery County Cross Country Relay u12 - 4 x 250m. Well done boys. Training is now back every Wednesday in the Community Centre as usual. Registration for 2011 will take place on Wednesday 26th January 2011 at the start of each training session i.e. 6pm for the younger group and 7pm for the older group.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Christmas Raffle: The Christmas Raffle was held on Tuesday night last, congratulations to the following winners: 1st Prize - Stephen Kelly, Tomcoole 2nd Prize - Robert Nolan, The Rock, Camross 3rd Prize - Leah O'Reilly c\o Tom Delaney 4th Prize - Niall Murphy, Harristown 5th Prize - Padraig and Muireann Hore, Kilgarvan 6th Prize - Colette Curtin, Forest

Congratulations to Noel O'Gorman, who on Sunday last received a Seana Ghael Award.

Taghmon Camross GAA Club would like to extend their sympathies to the Grannell Family, Wexford Town on the death of Emma, and to the Whitty Family, Coolateggart on the death of James Eagers.

The Club AGM was held on Sunday last, and the Player of the Year presentations also took place. Senior Footballer of 2010 - Seamie McLoughlin, Junior Hurler of 2010 - Barry O'Gorman, Junior Footballer of 2010 - Mark Waters, U21 Footballer of 2010 - Seamus Whitty, U21 Hurler of 2010 - Alan Nolan. The award for Club Person of the Year 2010 went to Pat Murphy.

The Draw for Return of Membership, also took place at the AGM, and the winners of this were Fintan & Susie Carroll. A report of the AGM will be included in next week's notes.

CASTLE VINTAGE CLUB

Castle Vintage Club held their 2011 AGM on Friday 14th January.

We would like to welcome in the new committee: Chairman - Pat Monaghan; Vice Chairman - Martin Dunne; Secretary - Mary White; Treasurers - Karl Winters and John Murphy; PRO - PJ Williams; Route Organiser - Noel Wall; Safety Officer - Paddy McCrea; Collections Officer - James Whitty.

Dates for 2011: 3 Day Tractor Run - May Bank Holiday Weekend; Ladies Tractor Run - 21st August; Working Day - 4th September; Men's Local Run - 2nd October.

We would like to thank the outgoing committee members for all their work, Paul Kehoe, Paddy McCrea and Mick Nash.

TRACTOR BUILD CHALLENGE

Taghmon Tops Group presents Tractor build challenge and Texas Hoedown night in Taghmon Community Centre on Saturday 29th January at 8pm.

Do you want to see a vintage tractor built from scratch in record time? come along and see who will beat the record,. Then enjoy the fun of a hoedown. Tickets at ¤6 include a free tex burger. Don't be afraid to dress to impress, texas style.

JUVENILE SOCCER

U10 1st Round Cup: The home game against St Cormac's was called off on Saturday morning last due to the weather. The arranged fixture will be confirmed later this week

U10's Girls: the girls braved the weather conditions last weekend in a highly entertaining game of football. Goals from Michelle Carty, Emma Kelly and Emma Clarke made it look easy as Taghmon ran out 11-4 winners on the day. All the girls produced superb displays of skill in the damp conditions and should be congratulated for braving the elements...well done to all

General Notes: A meeting in relation to next seasons pitch arrangements for the club will be held next week and it will be important for all players, mentors and anybody affiliated to the Club to attend.

It is all positive news with the Club heading in the right direction.

BADMINTON

Taghmon's Edward Cousins represented Leinster last weekend playing on the Leinster Senior Team in Milton Keynes, England. Well done to Edward who continues to be a great ambassador for the sport.

The Leinster Open held on the 8th and 15th January belonged to Ciara Dunne and 10 year old Clodagh Dunne. Both sisters won all the titles available in their age groups. Ciara claimed all three U17 Ladies titles - Singles, Doubles, Mixed. Clodagh claimed the U11 Girls Singles, Doubles and Mixed titles. Congratulations and well done to both girls.
