Our Junior ladies are having a tough time in the Leinster League which started a couple of weeks ago. Mullinavat, in the first game certainly had the upper hand on us winning on a scoreline of 8-10 to 39, with our scores coming from Aileen Power, 1-1, Grace O'Sullvan 1-2, Jessica Wall 0-2, Jackie Curran 1-0, Aoife Dunne 0-3 and Kara Delaney 0-1. We met Ballymurn/Crossabeg in the 2nd Leinster league game which we also lost on a scoreline of 5-14 to 1-2, with scores from Jackie Curran 1-0, and Aileen Power and Aoife Dunne 0-1 each. W
e were without a number of players on that evening. We played Monageer in the first match of the championship and were winning all through but in the dying seconds Monageer got the winning goal resulting in us losing by a mere point. Final score 3-8 to 2-12, with scores coming from Becky Doyle 2-4, Colette Curtin 1-0, Shannon Mcgrath 0-2, with Kate O'Gorman and Aoife Dunne scoring 0-1 each.
The ladies wish to thank Stanville hotel for allowing the club the use of their mini bus free of charge for match transportation this year. This very generous gesture is greatly appreciated by the club.
COISTE NA NOG
Congratulations to the under-14 boys who won the Feile na nGael Division 1Hurling Final in Wexford Park recently. They beat Naomh Eanna of Gorey 2-9 to 1-8 in a game which both teams produced some wonderful hurling.
The game started well for the eventual winners when they scored the opening goal in what was a well worked and well taken goal very early in the game, Naomh Eanna got themselves back into the game and had taken the lead by 1-8 to 1-5 at the interval.
Taghmon/Camross started the second half brightly and got stronger as the half progress, the boys were in control in all areas of the field and managed to stop their opponents from getting any score in the second half, while they added another 1-4 to their own tally with some well executed scores.
The team produced a great all round performance and deserve great credit for their achievement. Well done to their mentors Mick,Tom,Jim and Noel
This year the show takes place in Killag, Duncormick on Thursday July 14 so mark the date in your diary, it's only 12 weeks away.
