Walzing at Camross

Remember the second heat of Walzing competition will take place at February dance on Friday 6th with dancing from 10pm til late, doors open at 9.30pm. Fifteen couples will be selected for the grand final which will take place on Friday 6th March and the winning couple will enjoy a weekend for two in Hotel Kilkenny. Admission is €8 including refreshments.

Camross ICA

Members of the guild visited New Haughton Hosp. and New Ross Community Hosp on Sunday 25th January and entertained the residents through singing and recitations and of course chatting. This is an annual event for guild members where visits are alternated between Enniscorthy and New Ross hospitals. Next guild meeting will be held in Camross hall on Monday 2nd February at 8pm and competition will be for nicest apron. New members are always welcome.

Taghmon ICA

The first meeting of the New year took place on Wednesday 21st January. A vote of sympathy was passed with the Fortune,Welsh and Winters families. Due to the unavoidable absence of both the President and secretary the meeting was chaired by Mary Monaghan and Kathleen Murray acted as secretary. Thanks to both. As there was a small attendance it was decided to defer the demonstration till the next meeting. The Federation lunch was discussed and there will be twelve members attending.

The raffle was won by Helen Power and the competition was won by Kathleen Murray. Helen Power was the hostess. There will be a committee meeting on Wednesday 28th January and the next meeting takes place on Wednesday 18th February. New members are always welcome. if you're shy talk to any of our members who will be glad to welcome you.

GAA club news

Our club is running their Mud, Sweat & Tears Run on Saturday 31st January. All details are on the Facebook page /taghmoncamrossmudsweatandtears, twitter @tcfunrun or email Registration from 10am in Taghmon/Camross GAA Centre.

Our annual Medal Presentation night is on Saturday 31st January at 8.30pm in the GAA Complex. Anyone interested in attending please contact Margaret 086-8369047 or Mary on 087-7632399 for tickets. This will be a great night with meal provided and music by Freeway. Tickets are €15.

The club would like to extend sympathies to the family of Murt Walsh, the family of Paddy Winters and to the family of Paddy Stafford. Ar Dheis de go raibh a anam.

Coiste na nOg

Registration night for Coiste na nOg will take place on Friday night 30th January in the Clubhouse Bar at 6.30pm to 7.30pm for all age groups U8-U18. All new members welcome. Any parent wishing to register their child(6 years and over) for the 1st time please bring a copy of their birth certificate. IMPORTANT: Due to Insurance Regulations all players have to pay this fee before they play. Family Membership is €70, Students €30.

Well done to Jack Murphy who won the U14 County B GAA Handball Final. Also well done on runner up positions to Bobby Doyle U10, Conor Murphy U12 & Quinton Kehoe U14 who all competed in their County B Finals today.

Reminder an important Meeting will be held in GAA Complex, this Wednesday night 28th January at 8.00p.m for Parents/Guardian of the U.14 Team, to organise hosting a team for Feile.

Cabaret will be held in Rochford's Camross on Saturday 14th February. Tickets available from Kathleen Banville.

Computer Course

A Beginners Computer Course is starting on Monday 23rd February at the Taghmon Action Group Centre from 6-8pm Learn everything you need to know to get you started on your computer from turning it on to sending emails and browsing the web. Price: €120. Call Denise on 087 7653779 for more info.


Clodagh Dunne continued her superb winning form at the Leinster Yonex U15 Open on the 18th January. Clodagh was ranked number one seed in this event and proved to be worthy of her seeding. She won a hat trick of title U15 Girls Singles, Doubles, Mixed. The Club is very proud of this young player who puts in a trojan work ethic to stay at the top of her game.

The Ladies/Gents League is up and running. Our 5th Division Men's Team got off to a smashing start against Monaseed on Monday the 19rh of January. Captain Ryan Cogley had his team will focused, with the result that they won 8/3. Well done to Ryan Cogley, Brandon Cogley, Patrick O'Regan, James Mackenzie.

It is important that games are completed according to the timetable as Tops commence in March and this will put pressure on the hall's availability. Diary Date: 27th of February is the closing date for entry to the Adult County Championships.

Our Under 10 Girls had a fabulous win over Bridge Rovers on Saturday last. Hannah Kehoe scored an amazing 4 goals and this was followed up with Caoimhe Breen (1) & Becky Cashin (1) to run out victors 6-2 on the day.

The Youths continue to build momentum as they target top spot in the league after a fantastic win away to table toppers Bunclody. Leading from the front all season is Stephen O'Gorman who has bagged yet another hat trick and Johnny Murphy (1) both of whom have been in scintillating form. This team deserve a lot of plaudits in there inaugural season in the league and we hope that they will reap rewards in the final few weeks of their league Campaign.

The ladies fresh from the Cup win last week travelled to New Ross and won comfortably 6-1 and are looking good for promotion to the premier league.

The Men's B team played their 2nd Rd Cup tie against Bridge Rovers and lost out 4-0 while the Men's 1st team suffering from injuries and suspended players over the last few weeks played Shelbourne and came out 3-2 winners...action pictures all up on web page.


All groups at the centre are up and running for the new year. Monday Morning craft ladies, Tuesday INOU drop in service Wednesday's women, Positive living group on Wednesday Mornings, Men's Shed and woodcarving project on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Friday morning Men's Breakfast.

Literacy services and office services are also available at the Centre.

On the First Tuesday of month there is a drop in service from the Wexford Women's Refuge.
